Here's something straight out of left field: a video of Michael Steele from September 21, in which Steele says that while "he's not a big fan of ACORN" he believes ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis has done "a phenomenal job getting out in front" of the recent scandal, saying that he "take[s] her at her word that she wants to see the bad apples thrown out" so that ACORN can return to it's historical mission of "working in the community and helping the poor."
The sound you're hearing is that of wingnut heads exploding all across America the South. And Michael Steele gets all the credit.
(Steele's comments were delivered at Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas -- which also happens to be the place where ACORN was founded.)
