From today's
NY Times, on State Dept. Public Diplomacy czar Karen Hughes' visit to Egypt:
"I think many people around the world do not realize the important role that faith plays in Americans' lives," Ms. Hughes said after the meeting, sounding another theme.
You know, I think actually most people around the world do realize the important role that faith plays in Americans' lives. In fact, many people around the world think of Americans as crazed Christian zealots - "crusaders", I think is the term favored by Islamic terrorists. Shouldn't we maybe try and COUNTERACT the impression that everything America does is driven by Christian ideology, rather than reinforce it?
What's next? Will Hughes invite her Muslim hosts back to Texas for some baby-back pork ribs? Idiot.
