This is a World of Warcraft meta diary. If you have no interest, well, you picked the wrong diary. Personally, though, I think you should come join the online adventure. We're addicted, why aren't you?
The previous diaries in the series (most recent first):
Daily Kos World of Warcraft Guild: Name and Tabard
Daily Kos World of Warcraft Guild: Race/Class
Daily Kos World of Warcraft Guild: Faction
~~~
I know Moody said there would be no more diaries on the subject. I talked him out of it. See, this guild is about two things: community organizing, and having fun. So between the officers of the new guild -- "Wreck List" won the vote, by the way -- we're going to continue to write articles about this, in the hopes that you will continue reading them, and may even consider joining us.
(EDIT: We now have a guild website: http://wrecklist.wowstead.com. Check it out!)
Debbie in ME gave me a call at about 9 AM Eastern today. It's Sunday, people. I usually sleep until 11. Today, though, I was dealing with my other online addiction, so I got the call that Moody was on and signing us up. So cmairead (my wife, yay her) and I logged on to find Moody, Debbie, and nickrud awaiting more of us outside the Orgrimmar bank. We got the charter signed and shot the breeze for a while, while having a /dance party.
Around 11:00, it was official -- we had our ten signatures, and Wreck List was a reality! We got our first guild bank tab, and of course, we now need another one because it's almost full already. We're still undecided on the tabard, as far as I know, so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great. Post 'em!
And Hyperbolic Pants Explosion chose the best toon name of all: Piefight.
We've established some initial rules and parameters for our new guild:
- Kossacks only to start. So if you come asking for an invite, say who you are on DKos! (Unless your username is like Markos Moulitsas. Then we'll assume.) We're going to open it up later, but our thinking is that we'll get everyone settled in and feeling comfortable before we think about adding new people. But we'll be very selective -- wingnuts and jerks need not apply. Posting in the thread that you're coming? Totally a plus, then we'll know you're a Kossack for sure.
- Material gathering. If things work out the way I'd like, anyway, we'll have a great spread of professions, and not everyone will decide to take up crafting. With any luck we'll end up with quite a few gatherers, too, in order to get into number 3, which is...
- Crafting! It is my dream to cram three or four guild tabs full of crafting materials. Some of us gather, some of us craft, and everyone gets what they need. Whether it happens or not, we'll see, but it's my dream. "Hey, can you make me a Titansteel Destroyer with the mats in the vault?" How cool would that be?
- Leveling. If you're new to WoW, or new to the Horde... we encourage you to take your time and experience the game. If not, and you just want to get the heck to Northrend as fast as you can, some of us are willing to powerlevel characters. Just let us know. If we get a lot of interest, we'll begin scheduling some runs.
Let's see if we can make our "socialist" tendencies work on WoW. Consider it a sociology experiment! We hope to find you on Garrosh... send us a tell and join the crew!
For the Horde!!!
