He spoke out yesterday, he spoke today on American Morning on CNN, he will be on The View this week discussing the Iranian Uprising. After what his father made endure the Iranian people while in power, he is the last person who should give his input on this. I just think the Former Prince Reza Pahvali should keep his mouth shut because he is at this stage the worst spokeman ever for this movement. It seems to me that he wants to exploit the situation for his own interest.
What bothers me this morning during his interview on cnn was John Roberts incapacity of challenging the Prince. Not once Roberts reminded Reza Pahvali the cruelty of his father. He was 18 when his family escaped Iran, so he can't make us believe that he was unaware of his father's cruel regime. His mother seems to show no remorse of her husband's action. I'm stunned to see them calling out the Ayatollahs but never take responsability of the Shah's actions towards his population when he was ruling Iran. Before the revolution, the Shah and his family used to spend millions of dollars in fancy parties, clothes, ...etc while his people were starving with no hope. The Pahlavi stole billions from the Iranian people. So give me a little break.
People needs to know that Pahlavi Dynasty was never seen by Iranians as legitimate. In fact, in 1921, Reza Shah,Prince Reza Pahlavi's grandfather, an officer in Iran's Persian Cossack Brigade, used his troops to support a successful coup against the government of the Qajar dynasty (who is the legitimate dynasty). Within four years he had established himself as the most powerful person in the country by suppressing rebellions and establishing order. In 1925, a specially convened assembly deposed Ahmad Shah Qajar, the last ruler of the Qajar dynasty, and named Reza Khan, who earlier had adopted the surname Pahlavi, as the new shah. When, in 1941, Reza Shah Pahlavi refused to expell all German citizens at the request of the Great Britain,US and Soviet Union, he was overthrown. Many speculate that he was his own son,Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, was aware of the plot against his father. Then Great Britain, the US and Soviet Union permitted Mohammad Reza Pahlavi to acceed to the throne.
I guess Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was a better puppet than his father. During his reign, The Shah ruled the country with fear and tyranny. He was hated by his own people, which led to the Revolution in 1979.
So I don't think it's wise for his son to speak out on behalf of the Reformist Movement in Iran. Iranians (reformists like conservatives) don't want to see the return of a monarchy which many consider as not legitimate. Maybe he is trying to promote himself by exploiting this crisis and positionning himself as "a potential leader" if the Reformist movement succeeds by overthrowing the regime. Call me cold but his crocodile tears yesterday for Neda (R.I.P) didn't move me one bit. How many Neda his own father killed before the 1979 Revolution ?
The Pahlavis were never (never will be) popular inside Iran. Only some ex-pats around the Pahlavi want to see the monarchy returning in Iran.
Freedom will prevail in Iran without Reza Pahlavi's involvement.
