First, the basics:
Tonight Jay Ackroyd (better known in Second Life as Jimbo Hoyer) and DailyKos's own cskendrick sit down with NNSL Executive Director Jillan McMillan, Assistant Director Hypatia Eames and Programming Director Zathras Afarensis to give you the lowdown on what NNSL is and how to participate.
There are two ways to participate in tonight's show. You can join us live in Second Life at Inworld Studios (if you're not an existing Second Life resident, see this diary for more info on how to become one), or listen to the podcast at Virtually Speaking's website. Listening to the podcast might be easier for those who aren't technically inclined, but if you join us at Inworld Studios you can interact with the crowd and get all your questions answered!

Through Second Life we're able to bring you not only streaming video, but also real time discussion and participation in the panels from the comfort of your own home, exclusive online panels and information displays from nonprofit organizations, online retailers and great progressive companies. Oh, and did we mention it's free?

Two weeks ago the Netroots Nation in Second Life organization was proud to host an interview with Marshall Thompson, an Army journalist who, upon returning from a tour of duty in Iraq, walked the entire length of his home state of Utah in an attempt to engage like-minded Utahns in a discussion about war and peace. The experience was made into a film called A Soldier's Peace. The film has been selected for presentation at film festivals all over the United States and has received rave reviews. We had hoped to premiere the film online at our previous event, but ran into some technical difficulties. We plan to reschedule for as soon as possible, and we'll keep you posted.
