This comes from the list serve put out by Colorado State Senator Ken Gordon (D-Denver), and concerns the primary sponsor of the FMA who happens to hail from the 4th Congressional District in Colorado:
I served with Congresswoman Musgrave in the Colorado House and in spite of the criticisms that people on the left, or maybe even in the middle, have of her policy positions she was a perfectly pleasant person to serve with. The recent press that she has gotten over her proposed amendment to the United States Constitution, which deals with the topic of who can get married, reminded me of a conversation I had with her in the Colorado House.
The background was the bills that she carried when she was in the Colorado Legislature. These included:
Concerning the Invalidity of marriages between people of the same sex,
Concerning ages that relate to the crime of sexual assault on a child,
Concerning statutory rape,
Concerning teaching sexuality and human reproduction,
Concerning abstinence education grants,
Concerning the invalidity of certain marriages.
She sat in the front row of the House and I was in the well, where we (the Representatives) stand when we are waiting to speak. I walked over to her and said, "Marilyn. Sex...Is that all you think about?" To her credit, she laughed.
