Having a black guy in the White House is truly driving them mad:
"Republicans are struggling right now to find the great white hope," said [Rep. Lynn] Jenkins. "I suggest to any of you who are concerned about that, who are Republican, there are some great young Republican minds in Washington." As examples, Jenkins mentioned Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA), Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI).
Those guys are certainly white. And let's be honest, the rump regional GOP is nothing more than a collection of white guys. The vast majority of African Americans, Latinos, Asians, and Native Americans are Democrats. So Jenkins wasn't just being racist, she was (inadvertently?) speaking to the mono-cultural makeup of the modern GOP.
To be fair, she's not harboring any terrorists, like California Republican Wally Herger.
It was a comment from the crowd that may have gone unnoticed. A Redding man, identified as Bert Stead of Redding told a town hall meeting in Redding last week, "I"m a proud right wing terrorist."
Congressman Wally Herger, who represents the district, didn't interrupt or condemn the comment. In response, Herger said, "Amen. God bless you. There's a great American."
Figures a Republican would think a self-professed terrorist would be a "great American". And Herger is certainly assertive of the fact.
