If there is something good coming from DailyKos and similar sites, it is that as progressives we're thinking about issues and developing policies and responses better than we have for the past couple dozen years. We're developing our voice as leaders in America's future. The question is, are we ready to reach out to the rest of America.
Americans need to hear the new progressive voice. There is currently little effort to get the word out to those beyond the current sphere of influence. The blogosphere is circular in nature. We're beginning to make inroads on the AM dial and our Cable presence is still just a glimmer in Al Gore's eye. But there is someplace we can immediately begin reaching the rest of America and that's print.
We have the power of the future of news publishing right here at our finger tips. Combine the Kospedia, Kos Diaries (especially the investigative ones), and writing from top blog authors into a weekly publication (indymedia?). Attract national advertisers to pay for the editting and some of the local distribution then have local publishers bring in advertising from progressive vendors in their areas. If possible piggy back with other local progressive media to start, but always with the goal to publish and distribute independently.
Is it time to spread our wings a bit?
