Thanks to everyone who joined in and rated articles and photos yesterday. It was great to see stuff move up (and down) the food chain as a direct result. Let's do it again today.
Here is a recap of the idea: We actually have a shot at raising the visibility and longevity of certain stories on Yahoo by rating them. I've been compiling lists each day of stories and photos that deserve attention. I've made it easy to reach the stories and photos by providing links.
Thursday's list can be found below, along with some great tips that came out of yesterday's discussion:
Tips:
- E-mailing stories is a great way to move stories up the "popularity" chain. So if you have time, after you rate a good story, e-mail it to a friend or even yourself (obviously you do not want to e-mail a story we're trying to rate down.)
- Photos take fewer votes than stories to move up or down. They also can have a visceral impact. [Note: photos linger a lot longer than stories, especially the good ones and the one you wish you could tear off the screen with your bare hands, so check out photo links from previous days.]
- Please join in and add your own story and photo links in the comments section. That's a great way to keep the list as current as possible. I will update the diary throughout the day and try to incorporate the most important links people mention.
- Finally, please recommend this diary. The reason yesterday was so successful was because of you. The more eyes that see this list, the more ratings/e-mails we Kossacks generate, the more effective the strategy. Thank you!
