Univision über anchor Jorge Ramos has confirmed on twitter that his network will be providing live coverage of the DREAM Act vote on Saturday. Rival network Telemundo is supposed to do the same.
This is unprecedented. Anyone who knows a lick about these two networks knows their programming is full of schlock and crap -- a never-ending parade of shock "news" shows, celebrity gossip, and trashy soap operas. For them to break into their regular programming to cover a Senate vote is a sign that the DREAM vote is proof of the importance of this vote to the Latino community.
Thus, those who vote against Latinos will do so with a spotlight trained directly on them.
It is thus doubly important for Democrats to show they are champions of the Latino community. And it is doubly important for Republicans to leave the hate in the Senate cloakroom and vote the right way on what should be a non-partisan moral issue.
