From the Department of You Can't Make This Stuff Up:
MasterCard and Visa have stopped processing transactions for WikiLeaks, due to a "technicality". But anyone who wants to buy "Klan Novelties" like this lovely little ceramic tchotchke for Christmas can visit the official Ku Klux Klan web site and put it on their credit card.
Don't worry, the charging company shows up on your bill as "Christian Concepts," the legal name of the Knight's Party. Christian Concepts is a non-profit in good standing in the state of Arkansas. What a surprise.
There is no question they are a front for the Klan. The "Knight's Party" makes it clear they are the Ku Klux Klan. They ain't hiding it.
This raises an obvious question (at least for me)....
How the hell can these corporations engage in a breach of contract that involves clear reliance damages even though Wikileaks has not been charged with any crime, yet the KKK -- a criminal organization that actually has a law named after it -- can still accept autopayments from supporters using VISA and MasterRaceCard ®? (h/t lotlizard)
I guess some purists are better than others, eh?
As stevej says in comments
White Sheet -- $10
Burning cross -- $50
Veneer of respectability -- Priceless
I think the Klan deserves credit -- for consistency. Even when it comes to money, they discriminate. Anyone can buy their trinkets, t-shirts, etc. However, the Klan apparently accepts donations only from people who confirm they are
"white and not of racially mixed descent. I am not married to a non-white. I do not date non-whites nor do I have non-white dependents. I believe in the ideals of western Christian civilisation and profess my belief in Jesus Christ as the son of God."
Nice to see that someone understands the importance of maintaining consistent corporate policies and practices.
