Three weeks ago the Daily Beast published a new Aayan Hirsi Ali entry on the symbolic nick procedure proposed by the American Academy of Pediatrics....Why Are American Doctors Mutilating Girls?
Today the Daily Beast is bragging on their cheat sheet.
Doctors Shift Stance on Female Cutting
After only a month of criticism—including from The Daily Beast’s Ayaan Hirsi Ali—the American Academy of Pediatrics has reversed a policy that advised American doctors to give a ceremonial pinprick to girls of immigrant families so that they would avoid seeking a full circumcision. The pinprick is illegal in the U.S., and the idea generated a hail of criticism from opponents of female circumcision, which is practiced by members of some African, Middle Eastern, and Asian Cultures. "We're saying don't do it," the head of the association now says. "Do everything you can to support that family in this tough time, but don't be pulled into the procedure."
"Female cutting?"
Where does that come from? The AAP proposed nick is a pinprick in the clitoral hood. This is irresponsible and untrue.
I question the general wisdom of giving Ali a platform for muslim bashing, but isn't it quite insane to let a Kenyan immigrant performance artist shape American medical policy?
Ali is already receiving a six-figure salary from AEI for Islam bashing...what is the Daily Dish paying her in addition?
Ali's description of the proposed AAP nicking procedure....
First there is the ritual pinprick. This is what Pediatrics refers to as the “nick” option. To give you an idea of what that means, visualize a preteen girl held down by adults. Her clitoris is tweaked so that the circumcizer can hold it between her forefinger and her thumb. Then she takes a needle and pierces it using enough force for it to go into the peak of the clitoris. As soon as it bleeds, the parents and others attending the ceremony cheer, the girl is comforted and the celebrations follow.
That is a lie.
That is the way nicking is practiced in sub-saharan africa, not America.
The AAP proposal was a pinprick under local anesthesia to the hood of the clitoris, the female analog of the male foreskin. Less invasive than ear-piercing an infants ears. And far less invasive than cutting off the entire foreskin with a scalpel as is done for cultural reasons to millions of male infants every year.
The way procuring a ritual nicking occurs now is that it must be done illegally....like illegal back-alley abortions in this country, or the child is nicked while in a foreign country, visiting grandparents, traveling on hajj, or sent there just for the procedure.
As a muslimah, I think from what i know about evo theory of culture and social brain hypothesis the AAP symbolic nick would work very well…..the AAP is opening a benign channel for parental concerns about their offsprings marriageabilty.
If one small muslim girl is saved by this practice, it would be worth it.
There is something you can do.
Go to the cheat sheet and vote her down.
Please vote. There are up and down thumbs to the right.

I'll make this clearer.
You may agree with Hirsi Ali's longterm goals and her right to free speech.
But i proved she LIED when she described the proposed AAP symbolic nick, and instead described a sub-saharan ritual mutilation also called "nicking."
Are we clear now?
Update:
Wow....i guess its crazy eddie day for me. i thought the kos commentariat could read at least.
my bad.
I'm kindof disappointed in the hijacks.
If you want to discuss AHA's books, al-Islam in general, or cultural evoltion, please get your own thread.
Up-update:
I'll add this comment I made to Dr. Teeth for clarification.
the AAP is not defending FGM.....the AAP proposed a placebo to protect muslim minor girls, while people are being educated.
just answer the question.
Is it ok for Aayan Hirsi Ali to shape American medical policy by misconstruing the proposed AAP symbolic nick as a subsaharan ritual mulitation of the same name?
i dont care if you have read her books, if you agree with her, if you hate Islam or hate FGM.
i hate FGM.
im not defending FGM....im trying to defend my small sisters from infibullation and pharoic circ at the hands of illegal practioners.
i just want to know if you think its ok for Hirsi Ali to lie and wind up informing American medical policy.
