The Ohio "Coingate" scandal continues, with more details emerging of how our fearless leaders padded the pocketbooks of their buddies while "investing" the state's Worker's Compensation Fund.
Tom Noe, whose tainted funds have made their way into the campaign coffers of just about every Ohio Republican, allegedly paid himself first when put in charge of investing millions of dollars of the state's money in rare coins and other collectible paraphernalia.
This is not really news.
Every Ohioan understands that the Republican leadership is not only ineffective, but may be downright corrupt.
But the daily details help bring it to life.
Here are some of the other investments Noe made on behalf of the state, which you would have to assume would be sold at the state's annual garage sale for a great return on investment:
- 96 George W. Bush Christmas cards: $19,200.
- 221 Bill Clinton Christmas cards: $4,960 (It must have felt like Christmas when Noe got that money handed to him.)
- Richard Nixon signed check: $1,909
- 2004 presidential button set: $1,367
Seeing Ohio Republicans swept out the door in 2006: Priceless
(A cheap punch line I know, but who could resist?)
