I'm going to Washington DC in August.
I thought I would ask my fellow kossacks for advice on where to go and what do that is historical, interesting politically and fun to do?
Yes, I realize this is a superficial diary with not much content but more people in the daily kos community have been to DC than I have and it's nice to have a diary that isn't stressing everyone out for once.
I've been to DC a bunch of times before but never as a tourist. And since I've become a little bit more political since I came from Iraq, I would like to get some advice on where to go and what do that is historical, interesting politically and fun to do?
I would be tempting to yell at my Congressman Jason Altmire who is representing big business and not really helping his representatives (me). But that would only take a half hour of my time.
I'll be there from Thursday to Sunday not sure which week though...
I am familiar with the metro and have done some drinking tourism (adams morgan and dupont circle) throughout the capitol area before but not as interested in doing that this August although will probably enjoy a mojito or two. <sarcasm> Also can handle the heat... Baghdad and Kuwait are almost as hot as DC in the summer </sarcasm>
Any advice appreciated.
Thx
