Confirmed: Repub Congressman had Affair with Choking Victim

Well well well, it looks like Republican Congressman Don Sherwood of Pennsylvania, who made news a few days ago when he allegedly choked a woman nearly half his age in his apartment, has had a long running affair with said choking victim:

In a telephone interview Tuesday, Ore said she met Sherwood at a Young Republicans meeting in 1999 and that they had a relationship that lasted over the years.

"For me to start to go back to that day is very painful to deal with all the suffering I went through," Ore said. "I loved him. He always told me he loved me and I believed him."

According to the police report, Ore called 911 on her cell phone from Sherwood's bathroom and reported that Sherwood had "choked her for no apparent reason." Both parties said he was giving her a back rub, but he said she "jumped up" and ran to the bathroom.

So it looks like another right wing republican  -- the very people who shoved their noses into the Schiavos' personal life, the very people who think they can issue morality decrees about other people's marriages -- is now having his own personal life scrutinized.  Well boo hoo hoo. Live by the sword, as they day. . .

Anybody know any strong Democratic challengers for Sherwood's seat in '06?
