<title>Some thoughts on liberal voices and ex-Republicans</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/12/1/924711/-Some-thoughts-on-liberal-voices-and-ex-Republicans</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;This is, of course, the internet. &#x26;nbsp;That means people can say they are whoever they want to say they are. &#x26;nbsp;Many people are telling the truth, many others are not, and none of us really knows the difference.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;I will tell you, honestly, that I am 40, I am female, and I have been a liberal as long as I can remember. Believe me or not, it makes no difference to me. &#x26;nbsp;I was 10 years old when Reagan was elected, and I remember crying. &#x26;nbsp;I also remember finding it a mighty strange coincidence that the Iran hostages were released right after he was sworn in. &#x26;nbsp;It didn&#x26;#8217;t seem right, even to my 10-year old brain.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Why mention all this? &#x26;nbsp;Join me for more, below the fold.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>I&#x27;m proud to pay my taxes. &#x26;#160;Pass it on.</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/11/11/919860/-I-m-proud-to-pay-my-taxes-160-Pass-it-on</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Here at the Kos, we are all about electing more and better Democrats. &#x26;nbsp;That is a fine goal, but it does not address an underlying problem: &#x26;nbsp;To elect better Democrats, we need to win over more voters to our point of view, and more importantly get them to vote.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;For too long, the Republicans have co-opted the language of patriotism, and made it synonymous with the language of conservative politics. &#x26;nbsp;For too long, Republicans have smeared the lines so much that they make it sound as if freedom for business to exploit workers is really freedom for individuals. &#x26;nbsp;For too long, Republicans have turned &#x22;taxes&#x22; into a dirty word.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;If we want to elect more and better Democrats, we need to start fighting back. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;More below the fold.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Are progressive bloggers influential, or aren&#x27;t they?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/1/25/830168/-Are-progressive-bloggers-influential-or-aren-t-they</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;I have seen a disturbing trend recently that is really bothering me.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Some people on this site and elsewhere have been increasingly alarmed by the circular firing squad and constant criticism of the President and Congress by progressive bloggers and progressive opinion-oriented news hosts.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;The response by those being critical is that it is not the fault of the bloggers and commentators that the base is disengaged. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;If progressive blogs and opinion shows are not trying to form public opinion, then why exactly do they even exist?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Continued below.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Dear President Obama</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/1/21/828458/-Dear-President-Obama</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Please feel free to cut/paste as desired! &#x26;nbsp;Your very own &#x22;Why you have disappointed me&#x22; template. &#x26;nbsp;Just pick the item from each parenthetical list that best suits your needs.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;I write this with a heavy heart.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;In the entire (four decades &#x3C;em&#x3E;or&#x3C;/em&#x3E; six years &#x3C;em&#x3E;or&#x3C;/em&#x3E; three months) that I have followed politics, I have never been so disappointed with a president as I am with you. &#x26;nbsp;I am quite sure that (Lincoln &#x3C;em&#x3E;or&#x3C;/em&#x3E; FDR &#x3C;em&#x3E;or&#x3C;/em&#x3E; LBJ) would never have had these problems. &#x26;nbsp; He was a man whose (strength of character &#x3C;em&#x3E;or&#x3C;/em&#x3E; strategical brilliance &#x3C;em&#x3E;or&#x3C;/em&#x3E; inherent toughness) allowed him to get what he wanted. &#x26;nbsp;Unlike you, you spineless twit.

<title>Brown for health care reform?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/1/20/827949/-Brown-for-health-care-reform</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;I&#x27;m pretty new here, so my apologies if this has been covered. &#x26;nbsp;I haven&#x27;t seen it, though. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/01/20/AR2010012002822.html&#x22;&#x3E;This&#x3C;/a&#x3E; gave me pause:&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x22;We&#x27;re past campaign mode: I think it&#x27;s important for everyone to get some form of health care,&#x22; Brown told a news conference Wednesday morning. &#x22;So to offer a basic plan for everybody I think is important. It&#x27;s just a question of whether we&#x27;re going to raise taxes, we&#x27;re going to cut a half at trillion from Medicare, we&#x27;re going to affect veterans&#x27; care. I think we can do it better.&#x22;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x22;We have 98 percent of our people insured here,&#x22; he said at another point. &#x22;We know what we need to fix it.&#x22;
