<title>Occupy and the Tea Party</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/10/13/1025952/-Occupy-and-the-Tea-Party</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;I am I suppose what one might call a political adventurer. &#x26;nbsp;I don&#x27;t go where its politically comfortable or the political climate is always agreeable. &#x26;nbsp;As such I&#x27;ve gone to meetings and rallies held and attended by the following types: &#x26;nbsp;Democrats, Socialists, Communists, Libertarians, Anarchists, Standard rank and file GOP, non-partisans, Occupy, Tea Party, and likely a bunch that don&#x27;t have a name or have ones that wouldn&#x27;t be recognized or don&#x27;t exist anymore ... ever see a small group try to revitalize dead parties?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;So this has been brewing in the back of my mind for a while now about the similarities and differences both in composition and message as the Tea Party (one&#x27;s Ive been to) and the Occupy movement. &#x26;nbsp;A little old compare and contrast writing from the days in High School English so to speak.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;This is going to be an off the top of my head kind of thing since I am at work awaiting replies before I can do anything...here we go!&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Huffpo piece about tactical voting</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/7/8/992481/-Huffpo-piece-about-tactical-voting</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;So I expect to attract people who won&#x27;t understand my argument - seems to always happen because I don&#x27;t post for people to just fawn all over in agreement - I post to engage in thoughtful discussion. &#x26;nbsp;If you come here looking to agree with everything you read this likely won&#x27;t be for you because I post it as an invitation to my private inner considerations and inquire about this process in others as well.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;This is the article in question:&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robin-koerner/blue-republican_b_886650.html&#x22;&#x3E;http://www.huffingtonpost.com/...&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Follow me over to talk about it after you read it.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>So I joined the Oath Keepers...</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/6/1/981258/-So-I-joined-the-Oath-Keepers</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;I&#x27;ve been interested in their organization since it started since they take the (crazy to some) stand that they will disobey orders to violate the civil rights of Americans. &#x26;nbsp;I know I likely took my oath more seriously than did many of the other 17-19 year aged individuals at the station where we were sworn in.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;They&#x27;ve been on the edge of my thoughts as sort of a fuzzy cloud of prospective interest if I ever got around to it. &#x26;nbsp;However in the last year the organization has been creeping more and more into the spotlight of my thoughts. &#x26;nbsp;I&#x27;ve seen a lot of negative commentary about them as racists, or militia whackos, or otherwise vilified for...well I don&#x27;t really know what since the attacks were all emotionally charged lacking in content.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;So come payday I did what any person interesting in starting some conversation and exploring an issue did - I dove in. &#x26;nbsp;A recent story mentioning the Oath Keepers protesting the death of that poor young father murdered by over-active militarized police was the final little push.&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>What is up with us?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/5/6/973613/-What-is-up-with-us</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;I watched last night&#x27;s GOP debate mostly to mock my ex douchebag of a Senator (Santorum) and saw Ron Paul get cheers for ending the wars as well as decriminalizing drugs in between Santorum acting like the pompous authoritarian ass he is. &#x26;nbsp;Ok I wasn&#x27;t surprised by that at all since late last Presidential primary Kucinich and Paul kind of worked in tandem in the anti-war department so I have been familiar with him.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;So I check some stuff on here about the debates and I eventually meander to this diary:&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/04/29/971321/-Is-Ron-Paul-more-Progressive-than-Obama&#x22;&#x3E;http://www.dailykos.com/...&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;And...&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>RKBA Armed revolution in America today</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/3/22/958942/-RKBA-Armed-revolution-in-America-today</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;This is an expanded version of a comment I posted in a previous diary dealing with the ability of a modern armed populace repelling a modern armed military - specifically the ability of the US population to overthrow their government should it turn tyrannical. &#x26;nbsp;Lets be clear - this is the point of the 2nd amendment. &#x26;nbsp;It wasn&#x27;t written so one could shoot a thief in the night in one&#x27;s house, it wasn&#x27;t about &#x22;sporting use&#x22; (thank the Nazi&#x2019;s for starting that phrase), it was about the ability of an oppressed people to demand their rights through repelling the force keeping them down. &#x26;nbsp;Everything else is ancillary.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;And the rest...&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;&#x3C;img src=&#x22;http://a.imageshack.us/img810/8377/rkba2.jpg&#x22; alt=&#x22;&#x22; title=&#x22;&#x22; align=&#x22;right&#x22; /&#x3E;Right to Keep and Bear Arms is a DKos group of second amendment supporters who also have progressive and liberal values. We don&#x27;t think that being a liberal means one has to be anti-gun. Some of us are extreme in our second amendment views (no licensing, no restrictions on small arms) and some of us are more moderate (licensing, restrictions on small arms.) Moderate or extreme, we hold one common belief: more gun control equals lost elections. We don&#x27;t want a repeat of 1994. We are an inclusive group: if you see the Second Amendment as safeguarding our right to keep and bear arms individually, then come join us in our conversation. If you are against the right to keep and bear arms, come join our conversation. We look forward to seeing you, as long as you engage in a civil discussion.&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;

<title>Right to free speech from a new perspective</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/5/20/733780/-Right-to-free-speech-from-a-new-perspective</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;For people who don&#x26;rsquo;t understand how lawful firearm owners feel their rights are being infringed by the laws as they exist let us take a look at a world where the right to free speech has the same rules on it that the right to keep and bear arms currently has.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;So you are planning to give a speech (or just talk to your friends) about a topic that is important to you. &#x26;nbsp;So you get up in front of the people, assemble your speech papers and introduce yourself. &#x26;nbsp;Then before you speak a man comes up and does a background check on you running your name and social through a national database to show that you have no history of using speech badly or are crazy (the people you are speaking out against get to judge both of these things). &#x26;nbsp;In some states you are required to wait seven days before speaking even though the check takes five minutes.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>GOP opening up to Gay marriage?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/4/17/721496/-GOP-opening-up-to-Gay-marriage</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;From the CNN Story:
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/04/17/schmidt.log.cabin/index.html&#x22;&#x3E;http://www.cnn.com/...&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x22;There is a sound conservative argument to be made for same-sex marriage,&#x22; Schmidt, who was McCain&#x27;s campaign manager, told the group. &#x22;I believe conservatives, more than liberals, insist that rights come with responsibilities. No other exercise of one&#x27;s liberty comes with greater responsibilities than marriage. In a marriage, two people are completely responsible to and for each other.&#x22;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Ya know, finally. &#x26;nbsp;A realistic and conservative message about marriage that makes sense. &#x26;nbsp;It is at the very least internally logically consistent with calls for individual liberty, personal responsibility, and smaller government.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/2/2/692206/-Last-night-I-thought-about-shooting-someone</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;I stopped last night at a gas station in a nice section of town near my house. &#x26;nbsp;I don&#x27;t like my commute and don&#x27;t want to extend it by stopping for gas so I usually fill up on Sunday. &#x26;nbsp;It turned out to be ten minutes that made me think about having to get ready to shoot someone.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/1/23/688255/-I-wish-Obama-luck-but</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Like any President the only real effect he would have on the economy is the power of the bully pulpit to affect people&#x27;s perceptions. &#x26;nbsp;So long as he follows the line of embracing the Fed&#x27;s exploitative policies and procedures and listening to either side of the political aisle he won&#x27;t accomplish anything there.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>I have a headache today</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/1/21/687343/-I-have-a-headache-today</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;I&#x27;m the elected leader of a small state organization trying to get off the ground. &#x26;nbsp;We are trying to build a community based on 7 major issues in our state and not all of the people in each of them get along but each are an aspect of making the state a better state to live in for all. &#x26;nbsp;The idea is to give a good format for these groups to discuss and network their members and post news and recruit and to cross-polinate the ideas so that they can grow supporters from the other groups on the site as well.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
