&#x3C;p&#x3E;Tonight when you see the presidential debate, there will be a picture worth 10,000 words: THE MOST SUCESSFUL PRODUCT PLACEMENT by LOGO ever conceived in naitonal politics and the Presidential debates.. The Commission on Presidential Debates is a private corporation and the two co-chairs are both ex-party functionaries and are both corporate lobbyists in their day jobs.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Express your priorities</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/11/6/655869/-Express-your-priorities</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/11/5/18158/8285/983/654984&#x22;&#x3E;Yesterday I wrote a diary&#x3C;/a&#x3E; on the subject of my wish list for &#x22;to-do&#x22; items that would go into President Obama&#x27;s &#x22;in-tray,&#x22; that is, those things which a president can get accomplished merely by signing his name and not needing the cooperation of Congress to pass the legislation or confirm the appointment.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Apparently the concept of &#x22;what can President Obama do with the stroke of his pen?&#x22; is not as interesting to others as it is to me, because there was very little joining in with that discussion. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Now here is a website that may appeal to more people because it is not so policy wonky as I am. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;At &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.whitehouse2.org/&#x22;&#x3E;Whitehouse2.org&#x3C;/a&#x3E; you can add your own priorities to the collective consciousness without becoming too bogged down in specifics.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>A President Obama Wish List</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/11/5/654984/-A-President-Obama-Wish-List</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;(I haven&#x27;t seen a diary for this yet. If there is let me know.)
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;The BBC has a story titled &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/us_elections_2008/7702942.stm&#x22;&#x3E;&#x22;Inside the presidential in-tray&#x22;&#x3C;/a&#x3E; that made me think of what I would put in President Obama&#x27;s in-tray as my wish list of things that President Obama could do in the first few weeks of his presidency to make the hope of change be real and actual.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;What I&#x27;m talking about are executive orders and presidential letters and decisions that do not require legislation or congressional confirmation. These are not legislative packages, and I&#x27;m not talking about cabinet appointments (which I assume is a discussion going on elsewhere), but about the kinds of things that President Obama can do on his own by presidential fiat or initiative.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;I&#x27;m talking about what very practical actions President Obama can take and not just statements of philosophical or political postions. The idea is that these are very direct things to do or say that the President could hand to a staff person and say, &#x22;Write it up in the proper language and I&#x27;ll sign it.&#x22;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;What&#x27;s on your wish list?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>What McCain&#x27;s Hero Really Stood For</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/11/1/649523/-What-McCain-s-Hero-Really-Stood-For</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;WWTRS? What would T.R. say?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;John McCain claims Theodore &#x22;Teddy&#x22; Roosevelt as one of his personal heros. &#x26;nbsp;For anyone who actually knows the life and legacy of T.R. it is painfully clear that McCain doesn&#x27;t know what he is talking about and that his feigned admiration for T.R. is just another of McCain&#x27;s unending stack of lies. Wouldn&#x27;t it be interesting if McCain actually took the time to read and follow T.R.&#x27;s words?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;We&#x27;ve seen how McCain&#x27;s campaign has become one long character attack. Here&#x27;s what T.R. said about character attacks.
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E; Gross and reckless assaults on character, whether on the stump or in newspaper, magazine, or book, create a morbid and vicious public sentiment, and at the same time act as a profound deterrent to able men of normal sensitiveness and tend to prevent them from entering the public service at any price.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;Speech, &#x22;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.theodore-roosevelt.com/trmuckspeech.html&#x22;&#x3E;THE MAN WITH THE MUCK RAKE&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x22; April 15, 1906
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;The words of President Roosevelt himself give the lie to McCain&#x27;s claim of admiration for the legendary Rough Rider. While T.R. used his military experience to forge a deep sensibility for peace and justice, McCain has only bulit a career of pettiness and poison with his military background.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>A new word is discovered: palinscope</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/25/642061/-A-new-word-is-discovered-palinscope</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;This is a short diary to announce the discovery of a new word: &#x22;palinscope.&#x22;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;This word was discovered while reviewing the recent history of the Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin. &#x26;nbsp;When Ms. Palin was thrust upon the national stage by her nomination by Republican presidential candidae John McCain as his running mate, she was clothed not only in the most expensive Neiman-Marcus fashion lines, but she was wrapped in the most exquisitely tailored story lines as well.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;This has led to a plethora of investigative reporters looking back into the facts and history behind the stylized wardrobe of labels such as &#x22;hockey mom,&#x22; &#x22;small town mayor&#x22;, and &#x22;fighter against the big oil companies&#x22; and the reports of their discoveries.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Obama appealing to basest instincts</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/10/627121/-Obama-appealing-to-basest-instincts</link>
<description>&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Barry, Barry Obama, this is the voice of your conscience brother. What&#x27;s got into you?
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Sitting in California I watched a TV ad for Obama in which voters are told that Obama&#x27;s tax plan will give them &#x22;three times as much&#x22; more than McCain&#x27;s tax plan. &#x26;nbsp;This is the worst and basest kind of politicing possible.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;There is one other tactic that appeals to the worst in people that Obama has embraced fully as well. That is, Obama said unambiguously in the last debagte that he will try &#x22;to kill&#x22; Osama Bin Ladin, no questions asked. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Obama is simply appealing to the mob&#x27;s worst instincts.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Imagining what a real debate might be like.</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/3/619607/-Imagining-what-a-real-debate-might-be-like</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;People who grow up in the USA knowing only the bizarrely bland events called debates that are orchestrated by the corporte plutocrats called &#x22;the main stream media&#x22; can only have a vague sense that surely there must be a better way to do it. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Indeed there is. It is called having a &#x22;debate&#x22; everywhere else in the world.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;People who have been on high school or college debate teams are the small minority of Americans who know that there is a long tradition of debating that ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, and FOX totally ignore in their propagandized sanitations that they call debates.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;I imagine what a real debate would be like below the fold.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Back Street Gets the Shaft While Wall Street Gets Welfare &#x26; Main Street Gets Conned</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/2/618176/-Back-Street-Gets-the-Shaft-While-Wall-Street-Gets-Welfare-Main-Street-Gets-Conned</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;We hear a lot about Wall Street and Main Street these days but the politicians and the main stream media are doing their absolute best to ignore the Back Street as usual.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Every single Democrat and Republican who is supporting the Wall Street welfare plan is nothing but a hypocrite!&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Republicans voting for the $700 Billion gift to the rich, whose platform is to oppose the &#x22;welfare&#x22; state, are completely hypocritical because they support the welfare-for-the-rich state. &#x26;nbsp;Hating the very word &#x22;socialism,&#x22; the Republicans eagerly engage in privatizing their profits while socializing their risk.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Democrats who are voting for the boondoggle are hypocritical because, while they may support welfare (as I do), they are not giving the welfare to the people who need it and instead are giving it to the rich who don&#x27;t. While claiming to be for working people the Democrats are working against the interests of working people and those on the back streets. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;This scenario is as old as our nation and is the direct echo of the first Congress&#x27; consideration of the first funding bills in the new Congress of 1790.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Why are Diaries on Dead Soldiers treated as Holy Cows?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/9/22/606696/-Why-are-Diaries-on-Dead-Soldiers-treated-as-Holy-Cows</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Can people please explain why diaries on dead soldiers are treated as Holy Cows on Daliy Kos? &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;These diaries claim in the most maudlin tones to be in support of the troops who have died, yet they do not mention a single criticism of the Bush doctrine that murdered the soldiers. That is not support for the troops; it is support for the lie about the war. &#x26;nbsp;If looked at objectively these diaries are from people who meet the definition of a troll because they are essentially pro-war diaries because they support the &#x22;my country right or wrong&#x22; and &#x22;love it or leave&#x22; attitudes. Yet it is those who dare to criticise this jingoism who are labeled the trolls.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;And when I or others try to point out their hypocrisy on the troops -- that their wishes that the dead troops &#x22;rest in peace&#x22; because &#x22;they died for us&#x22; only hides the fact that the soldiers did not fight for peace nor did they die for us but for the corporate profiteers -- we are banned and our comments are removed.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Is Afghanistan the Sign That the Democratic Party Is Self-Destructively Chasing Moby Dick?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/8/31/581460/-Is-Afghanistan-the-Sign-That-the-Democratic-Party-Is-Self-Destructively-Chasing-Moby-Dick</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;In the best tradition of propaganda sloganeering, the Democrats labeled each day of their recent convention with a titled slogan intended to tell the party faithful what the sermon was to be about. The final day of the convention culminating in Barack Obama&#x26;rsquo;s acceptance speech was titled with the religiously tinted slogan, &#x22;Change You Can Believe In.&#x22; Let the buyer beware. As Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr wrote in January 1849, &#x22;The more it changes, the more it&#x26;rsquo;s the same thing&#x22; (&#x22;&#x3C;em&#x3E;plus &#x26;#231;&#x26;#231;a change, plus c&#x27;est la m&#x26;#234;&#x26;#234; me chose&#x3C;/em&#x3E;,&#x22; commonly rendered as &#x22;the more things change, the more they stay the same&#x22;). With a triumph of staging, Barack Obama is selling the elixir of change in the political market places as well as preaching it from the political pulpits, still one must ask in all honesty and daring to speak truth to the power of Democratic propaganda: Where is the &#x22;change&#x22; when it is more of the same thing?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Wake Up America! Best speech at the convention.</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/8/27/576358/-Wake-Up-America-Best-speech-at-the-convention</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;So far the best speech at the convention by far was by Dennis Kucinich. It will be very hard for Obama to top &#x22;Wake Up America!&#x22;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Considering that Kucinich was given only 5 minutes and not the 20 minute keynote slot that he deserved, I&#x27;d go so far as to say it was the best 5 minute political speech in my lifetime of 58 years.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;The Obama campaign made a big mistake putting Kucinich in the sub-prime time slot. So far Obama is running a &#x22;safe&#x22; campaign just like Kerry in 2004, and so far the polls show that Obama may get the very same result.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>When Are We Going to See McCain&#x27;s Actual Military Record?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/7/2/545081/-When-Are-We-Going-to-See-McCain-s-Actual-Military-Record</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Subtitle: &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Where are real investigative reporters when we need them?&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;If you saw or heard &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24518450/wid/18298287/&#x22;&#x3E;headlines like MSNBC&#x27;s&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Navy releases McCain&#x27;s military record
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;Unadorned paragraphs bestow some of nation&#x27;s top military honors
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;reporting &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.wtopnews.com/?sid=1400139&#x26;amp;nid=213&#x22;&#x3E;the story by JIM KUHNHENN&#x3C;/a&#x3E;, Associated Press Writer, you might believe that the Navy has released McCain&#x27;s military records.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;If you do, you would be wrong. &#x26;nbsp;The main stream media propaganda being what it is you would be understandably wrong but still wrong.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;According to Kuhnhenn,
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;The Navy recently released McCain&#x27;s military record &#x3C;em&#x3E; most of it citations for medals during his Navy career &#x3C;/em&#x3E; after a Freedom of Information Act request by The Associated Press.
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;If you look at the &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.npc.navy.mil/NR/rdonlyres/330F85C7-5982-4B09-A46A-373964430AFB/0/Document.pdf&#x22;&#x3E;link to the records that were released&#x3C;/a&#x3E; you will see that Kuhnhenn was misrepresenting the facts by calling this small collection of only 19 pages McCain&#x27;s &#x22;military record&#x22;. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>What Obama Needs To Learn From Progressives</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/6/25/541783/-What-Obama-Needs-To-Learn-From-Progressives</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Wednesday, June 25, 2008&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;In my recent daily post from &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.portside.org/&#x22;&#x3E;Portside&#x3C;/a&#x3E;I received the recent essay at In These Times by Ken Brociner titled &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.inthesetimes.com/article/3772/the_american_left_what_progressive&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;em&#x3E;The American Left: What Progressives Can Learn from Obama&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Brociner begins by saying,
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;One of the trademarks of Barack Obama&#x27;s presidential campaign has been his commitment to a new style of politics. Last year, in answering a question about negative campaigning and ad hominem attacks on opponents, he said: &#x22;My preference going forward is that we have to be careful not to slip into playing the game as it is customarily played.&#x22;

<title>Why there is time and reason for impeachment of Bush.</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/6/10/533197/-Why-there-is-time-and-reason-for-impeachment-of-Bush</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Dennis Kucinich is &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080610/pl_nm/usa_politics_impeachment_dc&#x22;&#x3E;introducing a bill with Articles of Impeachment&#x3C;/a&#x3E;against George W. Bush. &#x26;nbsp; Conyers already presented the bogus argument that there wasn&#x27;t enough time to impeach Cheney last year so we can expect to hear the same baloney from him about the Bush impeachment. &#x26;nbsp; However there is plenty of time as impeachment can be completed in four months as Clinton&#x27;s was.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;The most important reason for impeachment now is not remove Bush in order to get a new leadership but to establish the historical record for the deterrence and prevention of Bush-like tyrants in the future. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;I am very grateful for Kucinich doing this now and I hope it becomes a campaign issue in every Congressional district.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Why did Clinton lose? Plain and simple in one word: Judgement</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/6/9/532747/-Why-did-Clinton-lose-Plain-and-simple-in-one-word-Judgement</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Adding to the post mortems of the Clinton campaign, in my view Clinton lost because she didn&#x27;t have the good judgement to win. &#x26;nbsp;She didn&#x27;t have the good judgement to know who is in the Democratic Party and what &#x3C;strong&#x3E;their&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; issues were. &#x26;nbsp;Clinton didn&#x27;t have the judgement to see past her own issues. She didn&#x27;t have the judgement to know that a leader doesn&#x27;t ignore the base of the Party in fundamental issues.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;At every crucial fork in the road, she misjudged the Democratic base. &#x26;nbsp;No amount of &#x22;experience&#x22; can make up for poor judgement unless it is used to transform poor judgement into good judgement. Unfortunately for her, Clinton just couldn&#x27;t or wouldn&#x27;t admit that her poor judgement on the war needed transformation. She did not have the judgement to lead herself out of the corner she had painted herself into. A leader needs the judgement to know the difference between pandering and following, and while Clinton showed no reluctance to pander on certain issues, she was incapable of following the majority of the Party&#x27;s base on the most important concern of the day, and without demonstrating the judgement of responsive leadership she doomed herself and couldn&#x27;t win.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>What Should Obama Do in the First 100 Days?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/6/1/526791/-What-Should-Obama-Do-in-the-First-100-Days</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Obama missed an opportunity in Puerto Rico to show leadership. &#x26;nbsp;Clinton out of campaign necessity went to Puerto Rico. Obama should have gone there out of leadership.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Obama should have used the opportunity to make an important statement about Puerto Rico statehood and said it is now time to fish or cut bait and to have a referrendum on either independence or statehood with no continuation of the status quo limbo of territorial commenwealth status with no say in the federal government.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;That would have shown leadership and resolve.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;To show leadership, what should Obama be saying now about his priorities in the first 100 days after being elected president?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>If Obama Picked the Wrong Man for the VP Vetting Job, Can He Pick the Right VP?</title>

<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;I haven&#x27;t seen this diaried yet, apologies if it has.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;This is reported in the &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2008/05/22/2008-05-22_officials_obama_begins_veep_search_.html&#x22;&#x3E;The Daily News&#x3C;/a&#x3E;:&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Officials: Obama begins veep search
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;THE ASSOCIATED PRESS&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Updated Thursday, May 22nd 2008, 10:22 AM&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;WASHINGTON - Likely Democratic nominee Barack Obama has begun a top-secret search for a running mate, fresh signs that the general election campaign is well under way and the primary race against Hillary Rodham Clinton is basically over.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Obama has asked former Fannie Mae CEO Jim Johnson to begin vetting potential vice presidential picks, Democratic officials said Thursday. Johnson did the same job for Democratic nominees John Kerry in 2004 and Walter Mondale in 1984.
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;My immediate reaction is that if Obama has picked Jim Johnson to do the VP vetting and Kerry and Mondale both dis &#x22;so well&#x22;, how can Obama be expected to pick the right VP?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>What Should Obama Say to the American Voter?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/5/21/519611/-What-Should-Obama-Say-to-the-American-Voter</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Fantasy sports&#x27; leagues allow the participants to pretend they are team owners, managers, and coaches. &#x26;nbsp;To a large degree, DKos and other blogging websites are fantasy political leagues where we get to pretend we are advisors, campaign managers and speech writers. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;When Obama becomes the nominee he will have the convention podium from which to launch his campaign. &#x26;nbsp;What should he say to the American People? &#x26;nbsp;Below the jump, is my contribution as a fantasy speechwriter to the nominee about what I think he should include in his acceptance speech. I&#x27;m not offering a polished speech nor a comprehensive speech that includes every item that I tiink he should cover. &#x26;nbsp;It is just my &#x22;first draft&#x22; suggestion aimed at those important controversial issues that I think should not be left out of his speech at the convention. Is Obama a Muslim? Will he be a leader of &#x22;a small minority&#x22; of Blacks? Is he patriotic? I think Obama needs to address these questions directly and boldly, and very personally.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Like a good political fantasy league, I&#x27;d like to see what others consider to be the necessary additions to what the &#x22;speechwriting team&#x22; has for what should be in Obama&#x27;s convention speech. &#x26;nbsp; What do you think should be included?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>How will the MSM spin tonight?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/5/6/510503/-How-will-the-MSM-spin-tonight</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Tonight Obama won the delegates that were up for grabs. That means tonight Obama increased his lead over Clinton.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;And of course Obama won NC by more than 200,000 votes and &#x22;lost&#x22; (as of this time of the night) IN by less than 40,000, so Obama got by far more popular votes.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Will the MSM portray tonight as a &#x22;draw&#x22; with each winning one state? That would be the way to keep the Clinton delusion going and helping the Republicans.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>The Bitter Truth: Can Obama Tell It and Still Win?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/4/18/498232/-The-Bitter-Truth-Can-Obama-Tell-It-and-Still-Win</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;I&#x27;m of a mixed mind about whether Obama is electable. Why? Because the more I like him, the more I realize it is because he is giving the voters the bitter truth that they don&#x27;t want to know. If he becomes the messenger of truth, as he seems to want to be, then the myopic, parochial, and ostrich-like &#x22;in denial&#x22; American public, who are largely brainwashed by the Main Stream Media-government collaboration, will turn on and attack the messenger and continue to close their eyes to the truth. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Rev. Wright.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;Not wearing a flag lapel pin.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;Comments about bitter people in Pennsylvania.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;All good messages of bitter truth that make me like Obama, but they are messages that Obama is being attacked for and feels he must apologize for.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;If apologizing works then I&#x27;m wrong again and that&#x27;s fine with me. But personally, I&#x27;d prefer to have him be the unashamed bearer of truth and go down in flames rather than being the apologizer who loses anyway.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Have Obama or Clinton Responded to Winter Soldier: Iran and Afghanistan?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/3/20/480907/-Have-Obama-or-Clinton-Responded-to-Winter-Soldier-Iran-and-Afghanistan</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;There have been several diaries here referring to the Winter Soldier: Iraq and Iran proceedings of last week-end.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;For example,&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/3/15/193331/232&#x22;&#x3E;http://www.dailykos.com/...&#x3C;/a&#x3E;
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/3/15/193949/370&#x22;&#x3E;http://www.dailykos.com/...&#x3C;/a&#x3E;
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/3/16/15240/0896&#x22;&#x3E;http://www.dailykos.com/...&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;A DKos search will show more.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;But if there has been any discussion about the Obama and Clinton campaigns referring to it I have missed them.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;My concern is that basically Obama and Clinton are trying to talk about how to bring most of the troops home without really dealing with the issues that are raised by Iraq and Afghanistan. Though Obama flirts with it, neither candidate is actually discussing the fact that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are already lost and they are lost because of the conduct of the military from the Commander in Chief all the way down to the grunt in the field killing civilians simply because his sargent said &#x22;open fire.&#x22;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;continued....&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Obama and Clinton Are Buying Superdelegates</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/2/17/458625/-Obama-and-Clinton-Are-Buying-Superdelegates</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;This was reported on my local ABC station in the San Francisco Bay Area.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Over $900,000.00 has been spent by the Obama and Clinton campaigns to get superdelegate support. Obama has spent over $600,000.00 and Clinton over $200,000.00 buying up superdelegates. How? By transferring money from their presidential campaign funds to &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.capitaleye.org/superdelegates.asp&#x22;&#x3E;the campaign funds of individual superdelegates&#x3C;/a&#x3E; who are in elected office such as Congress, state legislature or local offices. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;This is legal under election laws and the Democratic Party rules. But it sure looks like legal bribery to me.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Story below the fold.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Bill Clinton Implies Obama Campaign is Evil.</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/2/16/458134/-Bill-Clinton-Implies-Obama-Campaign-is-Evil</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Okay, the Hillary Clinton campaign appears to be in meltdown mode, and it is flowing from the top with ex-president Bill whining about not getting any respect from Barack Obama.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;It&#x27;s bad enough when Bill says his wife isn&#x27;t getting respect, but when Bill starts defending himself he is taking away from his wife&#x27;s campaign and making himself look like the biggest loser.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Then Bill gets on such a roll that he makes a statement that can only be seen to imply that Obama&#x27;s camapaign is an evil jaugernaut &#x22;taking out&#x22; the &#x22;good&#x22; candidates.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Decide for yourself below the fold if I&#x27;m seeing things that aren&#x27;t there.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>After Iraq Vote and Lies About Her Vote, Why Does Anyone Believe Clinton?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/2/8/452782/-After-Iraq-Vote-and-Lies-About-Her-Vote-Why-Does-Anyone-Believe-Clinton</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;I can understand Edwards saying he made a mistake on the Iraq vote. But I can&#x27;t understand why anyone in their right mind would believe anything from Hillary Clinton after her explanations about her Iraq war authorization vote. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;At the time, Clinton&#x27;s vote on Iraq showed terrible judgement and lack of intellectual ability and experience, but her explanations afterwards have indicated more than just dissembling; she has shown nothing but outright dishonesty.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;If experience is worth anything, it is that experience means you know what things mean. You know what &#x22;taking responsibility&#x22; means beyond the lip service. You know that &#x22;taking responsibility&#x22; means you admit you were wrong and you say you are sorry for being wrong. If you don&#x27;t know that, then you don&#x27;t have the basic life experience needed to be an adult, much less the president.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>The Democratic Primaries Are Over For Me, I&#x27;m Headed for Greener Pastures</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/1/17/438116/-The-Democratic-Primaries-Are-Over-For-Me-I-m-Headed-for-Greener-Pastures</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;After watching what the Democratic Party has done to Dennis Kucinich, it is abundantly clear that the Democratic Party doesn&#x27;t care a whit about democracy or the principles of fair play.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Rather than conducting a primary election for delegates in which every candidate has an equal chance to collect delegates going to the convention, the Democratic Party has rigged the game so that candidates who represent a minority view within the party are disenfranchised. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;The Democratic Party does this in many ways but the two chief ways are through the manipulation of the voting system using the 15% rule, and the manipulation of the debate system by collaboration with the media-military-industrial corporations. &#x26;nbsp;Just as the Democrats in congress have sold out the Party over the war and impeachment, the Democratic Party has abdicated its own authority over its own primaries and convention by giving control of our public elections to private corporate interests.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;This cannot stand if we are to have a viable democracy. It is not the neo-cons to blame only. Instead the Democratic Party is bringing us a neo-fascism that is sold with the expertise of Madison Ave. By having no principles when it comes to the conduct of the primaries and the debates the Democratic Party has shown its true colors.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>A Call For Sobriety Dealing With Primaries: It&#x27;s Delegates Not Votes That Count</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/1/8/433346/-A-Call-For-Sobriety-Dealing-With-Primaries-It-s-Delegates-Not-Votes-That-Count</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Tonight the MSM reported a &#x22;big win&#x22; and a &#x22;stunning victory&#x22; for Clinton. What a bunch of baloney.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;This is a call for sober responses to the primary results. Okay, I&#x27;m a Scrooge when it comes to the hoopla. But really it just looks stupid to me when people are calling the outcome of New Hampshire a &#x22;win&#x22; for Hillary Clintion when is was actually a &#x22;tie.&#x22; &#x26;nbsp;And in fact, Hillary did not come in third in Iowa; she came in second.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;What the heck am I talking about? These are PRIMARIES people! You really need to stop looking at the vote results and look at the delegate counts.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;All the crowing by supporters of Obama after Iowa and supporters of Clinton after New Hampshire is really a form of self-delusion about the actual results. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Danny Glover endorses John Edwards + Will the Convention be Contested?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/1/7/432295/-Danny-Glover-endorses-John-Edwards-Will-the-Convention-be-Contested</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Danny Glover was on Democracy Now! last Friday discussing his support for John Edwards and the mandate for change.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Harry Belafonte has also endorsed John Edwards. &#x26;nbsp;These two gentlemen have impeccible credentials as progressives. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;So far, the only down side to electing Edwards is that he is a European ancestry male.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;The Clinton campaign is attacking Edwards specifically and saying it is a two-way race between Clinton and Obama. That seems sure to backfire to me, because everyone they convince not to vote for Edwards will more likely vote for Obama. Glover says if it is a two-person race the two people are Obama and Edwards.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Comparing Huckabee&#x27;s and Obama&#x27;s Iowa speeches on change centered on hope, Glover also said, &#x22;I had problems distinguishing between Huckabee&#x26;rsquo;s idea of this new America and Obama&#x26;rsquo;s.&#x22;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;I really hope that Edwards can continue through to the convention and gather enough delegates to prevent both Clinton and Obama from getting the 2025 needed for the nomination. I think the best thing the Democratic Party could do is to have a contested convention with Richardson and Kucinich having some delegates also to work with in brokering a compromise platform and consensus candidate.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Link to DN! with Glover and text below.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Where Is the Outrage for Kucinich? The Democrats Show Their Contempt for Democracy.</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/1/5/431250/-Where-Is-the-Outrage-for-Kucinich-The-Democrats-Show-Their-Contempt-for-Democracy</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Dennis Kucinich (and Mike Gravel) is being banned from the ABC Facebook debate. Where is the outrage here? Where is the outrage in the Democratic Party.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;I submit to you that the treatment that Dennis is getting now is exactly the treatment that his proposals are getting from the Democratic Party leadership.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Impeachment off the table? Dennis out of the debagtes.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;Single payer off the table? Dennis out of the debates.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;I&#x27;m reading comments in here on DKos diaries that I have commented in that say Kucinich should be banned because he is not polling high enough. &#x26;nbsp;I can&#x27;t express how sick that makes be feel, that people who call themselves Democrats would act like such self-interested fascists against the principle of democracy. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;As I see it the principle takes precedent over the self-interests of the other candidates or the vested interests of the media like ABC who have a conflict of interest in telling the American people what they can hear or not. ABC is supposed to report the news, not make it.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;As long as there is one person in the state of New Hampshire who would vote for Kucinich (or Gravel as one of the 6 national candiates), then Kucinich (and Gravel) should be in the debates and given the fair chance of convincing one more. &#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Who is Dennis Kucinich? video and more</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/1/4/429787/-Who-is-Dennis-Kucinich-video-and-more</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;For all those who have written off Kucinich I suppose any thing written in his favor just seems like satire or snark. I have such a weird view of politics, I&#x27;m wondering how others look at the serioucness of running in the primaries and seeking delegates for the convention. When the other so-called 2nd tier&#x22; candidates have left the race, Kucinich will show his determination, sincerity, and seriousness by continuing on to the convention. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Is this a factor at all in your equations of what makes a &#x22;serious&#x22; candidate? &#x26;nbsp;I don&#x27;t see any candidate who isn&#x27;t willing to go the distance and finish every primary as a serious canidate and since I know Kucinich is the only candidate who has that level of determination I see him as the most serious candidate. But I assume some people would see that kind of determination as just &#x22;silly&#x22;.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;I&#x27;ll vote for the longshot who hits the target 9 out of 10 rather than the shortshot who can&#x27;t hit the bulls eye but 3 out of 10 tries.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;This is a four-part diary re: (1) Robert Perry&#x27;s analysis of Bill Clinton&#x27;s comments about a &#x22;world tour&#x22; with Bush 41, (2) Sean Penn endorsed Kucinich, 3) Kucinich asks his Iowa supporters to make Obama their second choice, and (4) Kucinich, Biden, Dodd, and Gravel are banned from ABC&#x27;s NH debate. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;(1) &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.democracynow.org/2008/1/2/robert_parry_hillary_clinton_signals_free&#x22;&#x3E;On Democracy Now! today:&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Kucinich is again the proven leader.</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/12/1/416708/-Kucinich-is-again-the-proven-leader</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;A recent article &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.womensenews.org:80/article.cfm/dyn/aid/3396&#x22;&#x3E;on sex education by Alison Bowen&#x3C;/a&#x3E; in &#x3C;em&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.womensenews.org&#x22;&#x3E;Women&#x27;s e-news&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/em&#x3E; titled &#x22;Views on Sex-Ed Divide Democratic, GOP Candidates&#x22; once again shows how Dennis Kucinich takes the uncompromised lead on progressive issues.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Alison Bowen is a New York City-based journalist covering the 2008 campaign. Her work also appears in the New York Daily News.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;According to Bowen,
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich is the only presidential candidate who is a co-sponsor of the Responsible Education About Life Act that emphasizes comprehensive programs. &#x26;nbsp;
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Why can&#x27;t Clinton, Obama, Dodd, or Biden join in on this? &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;As I see it, it is once again no surprize that the little guy who acturally reads the bills is the progressive leader among the Democrat candidates. That is the type of experience we need and can trust.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;See what Bowen says about the all the candidates&#x27; positions below the jump fold.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Who cares what Joe Klein writes?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/11/28/415261/-Who-cares-what-Joe-Klein-writes</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Two diaries discuss the recent Time opinion piece by Joe Klein: &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/11/27/195037/04&#x22;&#x3E;More on the Time idiocy&#x3C;/a&#x3E; by Kagen X and &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/11/27/184622/62&#x22;&#x3E;Time&#x27;s laughable &#x22;correction&#x22;&#x3C;/a&#x3E; by Kos. &#x26;nbsp;They take issue with Time magazine for its &#x22;correction&#x22; of a statement by Klein regarding provisions of the Democrat&#x27;s take on FISA.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Who cares? Based on what Klein writes, the man is an idiot ideologue.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Kline wrote,
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Senator Christopher Dodd had a nice moment in the Democrats&#x27; Las Vegas presidential debate.
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;So what was Dodd&#x27;s &#x22;nice moment&#x22;? He answered Wolf Blitzer&#x27;s Republican-framed question like a Republican. &#x26;nbsp;In other words, Kline thinks Democrats have &#x22;nice moments&#x22; if they sound like Republicans.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Kucinich Wins Democracy For America Poll</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/11/7/407570/-Kucinich-Wins-Democracy-For-America-Poll</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Dennis Kucinich is the clear favorite among progressives responding to the most recent Democracy For America &#x22;Pulse Poll.&#x22;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Democracy For America (DFA) is the organization of progressive Democrats who supported Howard Dean and it is currently headed by Dean&#x27;s brother James H. Dean. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Kucinich = 31.97% &#x26;nbsp;49,364 (1st place votes)
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;Gore = 24.77% &#x26;nbsp;38,242
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;Edwards= 15.6% &#x26;nbsp; 24,078
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;Obama 13.86 &#x26;nbsp;21,403
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;Clinton 4.21 % 6,504&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;I think this is a fairly accurate rating and ranking of the candidates&#x27; &#x22;progressive index.&#x22; &#x26;nbsp;(That is, except for Mike Gravel who is very progressive but with libertarian flavoring and just doesn&#x27;t seem to have much support.)&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Since the polling was done by ranking your top three choices the results graphic at DFA&#x27;s website has the feature of removing candidates to see what would happen in various configurations of match ups. &#x26;nbsp;This is important as an educational tool to understand why we should have ranked-choice voting for all federal elections. &#x26;nbsp;That one piece of federal legislation would change the face of politics overnight.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;DFA&#x27;s statement and more below the fold.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/10/30/403335/-Kucinich-Isn-t-Controlled-by-Wall-Street-s-Insurance-s-or-Weapons-Money</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Crossposted at &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://wonderwheels.blogspot.com&#x22;&#x3E;Turning the Wheel of Wonder&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Dennis Kucinich is the Democrat&#x27;s Democrat. He&#x27;s the only candidate who opposed the war in Congress and gave the members of Congress his arguments why it was wrong. He&#x27;s been proven 100% correct. He&#x27;s the only candidate who had the foresight and analytical ability to explain the situation and stick to it. (Obama said he opposed the war but after being elected he then voted for every bill funding the war until recently.) &#x26;nbsp;He&#x27;s the only candidate in office who has not been bought by Wall Street and other big business interests. &#x26;nbsp;He&#x27;s the only candidate who has presented an actual bill into Congress for a practical exit strategy out of Iraq -- HR 1234. He&#x27;s the only candidate who has supported HR 676 medicare for all. He&#x27;s the only candidate who supports impeachment and has introduced a bill to impeach Cheney. He&#x27;s the only candidate who voted against the Patriot Act.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>The Key To Hillary&#x27;s $ Boom</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/10/26/403138/-The-Key-To-Hillary-s-Boom</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;I have to admit that I don&#x27;t always get it on my own. &#x26;nbsp;Thinking about Hillary&#x27;s shift from backing Health Care to backing mandatory Health Insurance that benefits the for profit insurance companies and her getting to the top of the recipient list of weapons makers money, I didn&#x27;t see the connection. I din&#x27;t have the pieces of the puzzle.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Then, just now, I read &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/story/0,,2198483,00.html&#x22;&#x3E;Naomi Klien&#x27;s article&#x3C;/a&#x3E; and she provided the key that explains why Hillary Clinton is rolling in dough-re-me.

<title>Does Hillary&#x27;s Dirty $ Make a Difference To You?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/10/23/401541/-Does-Hillary-s-Dirty-Make-a-Difference-To-You</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Several reports have out came out recently about Hillary Clinton&#x27;s money tree. &#x26;nbsp;The Independent reported about HRC&#x27;s US Weapons industry money and Nation and RealNews reports on the Bush backers money connection.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Does it matter to HRC supporters who think she can do no wrong? Will you say it doesn&#x27;t matter and Hillary will be &#x22;independent&#x22; even though she is now getting money from the same people who set up George W. Bush?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Harken Energy? Does that name ring a bell? The people who &#x22;rescued&#x22; Bush from his failed businesses and set him on the path to become President are now the same people supporting Hillary Clinton using a private equity and investment firm as a conduit for what I call legal money laundering. Terry McAuliffe is the connector.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Should Nancy apologize to Pete?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/10/22/401174/-Should-Nancy-apologize-to-Pete</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Pete Stark says on the floor of the House that Republicans are complaining about where to find the money for child health care yet they don&#x27;t seem to care where the money for the war is coming from. Then he says to the Republicans across the aisle:
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;You don&#x27;t have money to fund the war or children, but you&#x27;re going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the president&#x27;s amusement. [View vid in body for source.]
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;So, Pete Stark has the guts to tell the truth about Bush and the Republicans spending money about the war but not for child health care and the Bushies cry foul. &#x26;nbsp;Well, that&#x27;s to be expected. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;But why should Democrats like Nancy Pelosi be apologetic that a fellow Democrat actually had the courage to say it? &#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;As long as the Democrats like Nancy and Harry (and Hillary, and Joe, and John) control the party like this, the Democrats will never get anywhere. &#x26;nbsp;When Pelosi &#x22;rebuked&#x22; Pete Stark, Cenk Uygar of the Young Turks said, &#x22;I don&#x27;t know if you know this, Nancy Pelosi is actually the head of the Democrats not the Republicans, but she loves to rebuke her own Democrats.&#x22; &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Experience for a job means experience to do the job. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;For example, which candidate has the experience dealing with the war on Iraq? &#x26;nbsp;Kucinich showed the experience to challenge the phony evidence of President Bush and the experience to decide for himself, and the experience to vote against the war. &#x26;nbsp;Clinton, Edwards, Biden and Dodd did and do not have that experience. &#x26;nbsp;They believed Bush&#x27;s lies and did not have the experience to do the research themselves or to tell truth from fiction.

<title>The Non-sense of the Senate: It&#x27;s Iraq, Stupid, Not Iran.</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/9/26/390673/-The-Non-sense-of-the-Senate-It-s-Iraq-Stupid-Not-Iran</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Fed up with the Democrats who voted for the Kyl-Liberman Amendment? Wondering what the purpose of the non-Sense of the Senate amendment was?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Well, the purpose of the amendment was not really about Iran. It is about continuing the war in Iraq based on the lies of the Bush administration, now officially adopted by the Democrats, about Iran. After all justifications for staying the course in Iraq have proven empty, by now labeling Iran a terrorist organization (weird, huh?) the Democrats join with the Republicans to provide next justification for the continuation of the war in Iraq. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;The non-Sense Amendment exposes the underlying structure of the duopoly, the two-party dictatorship, that rules the USA today.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Only Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel are outside the political pack of this duopoly mindset. &#x26;nbsp;It is up to the regular grass roots Democrats to face this uncomfortable and inconvenient truth.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>The Biden-Brownback-Boxer Amendment is Baloney</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/9/25/389974/-The-Biden-Brownback-Boxer-Amendment-is-Baloney</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Since even Democrats as enlightend as Barbara Boxer don&#x27;t understand what is going on in Iraq, I have to question the sanity of our body politic. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Here&#x27;s a diary responding to a call to action from Boxer to support the bizarre Biden-Brownback-Boxer amendment and juxtaposing that with a talk I heard last night from a civilian attorney recently returned from Iraq where he was defending a soldier being court martialed.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Folks, the Vietnam connection is too close for comfort as apparantely one untold story of Iraq is that fragging incidents are on the rise and reminding the upper officer corps so much of Vietnam that they are getting vindictive to the troops.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Sulaimaniya: the Tombstone of Iraq. </title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/9/20/387876/-Sulaimaniya-the-Tombstone-of-Iraq</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Two stories about Sulaimaniya, Iraq, suggest there is something going on there that is reminincient of the wild west days of the American expansion past the Mississippi in the years after the Civil War.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Does the US report of capturing an &#x22;Iranian officer of the Quds force&#x22; pan out? Or is it another propaganda trick by the US to turn an Iranian on a secret gambling holiday into the smoking gun of US disinformation?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Election Litmus Tests - Why I &#x26;#160;Will Never Vote for Hillary</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/9/19/387208/-Election-Litmus-Tests-Why-I-160-Will-Never-Vote-for-Hillary</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Some people don&#x27;t belive in Presidential Litmus Tests. &#x26;nbsp;I do. But not just one, I have several.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;That is why I will never vote for Hillary Clinton. She fails too many of my Litmus Tests.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;As I see it, if you don&#x27;t have one or more Litmus Tests, then you have no stand on the issues and your vote is actually undermining democracy by confusing the issues and abdicating your judgement by giving it away instead of exercising it.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;So after reading my Litmus Tests, share your Litmus Tests. What issues are you willing to take a stand on?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Comprending American Fascism</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/9/4/380336/-Comprending-American-Fascism</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Why are people afraid to use the &#x22;F&#x22; word in describing the USA? &#x26;nbsp;What is fascism anyway? Is the USA a fascist country?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;This article discusses how to diagnose fascism in any country by using the 10 primary symptoms of fascism.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;ol&#x3E;&#x3C;li value=&#x22;1&#x22;&#x3E; &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Authoritarian/Autocratic &#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/li&#x3E;&#x3C;/ol&#x3E;
&#x3C;ol&#x3E;&#x3C;li value=&#x22;2&#x22;&#x3E; &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Patriarchal&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/li&#x3E;&#x3C;/ol&#x3E;
&#x3C;ol&#x3E;&#x3C;li value=&#x22;3&#x22;&#x3E; &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Plutocratic&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/li&#x3E;&#x3C;/ol&#x3E;
&#x3C;ol&#x3E;&#x3C;li value=&#x22;4&#x22;&#x3E; &#x3C;strong&#x3E;In-Group Supremacy &#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/li&#x3E;&#x3C;/ol&#x3E;
&#x3C;ol&#x3E;&#x3C;li value=&#x22;5&#x22;&#x3E; &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Anti-life and Anti-nature &#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/li&#x3E;&#x3C;/ol&#x3E;
&#x3C;ol&#x3E;&#x3C;li value=&#x22;6&#x22;&#x3E; &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Violence &#x26;amp; war &#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/li&#x3E;&#x3C;/ol&#x3E;
&#x3C;ol&#x3E;&#x3C;li value=&#x22;7&#x22;&#x3E; &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Mass Appeal&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/li&#x3E;&#x3C;/ol&#x3E;
&#x3C;ol&#x3E;&#x3C;li value=&#x22;8&#x22;&#x3E; &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Deception&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/li&#x3E;&#x3C;/ol&#x3E;
&#x3C;ol&#x3E;&#x3C;li value=&#x22;9&#x22;&#x3E; &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Fear Mongering &#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/li&#x3E;&#x3C;/ol&#x3E;
&#x3C;ol&#x3E;&#x3C;li value=&#x22;10&#x22;&#x3E; &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Sanctimony &#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/li&#x3E;&#x3C;/ol&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;The reader is encouraged by examples of questions that may be asked to conduct your own simple diagnosis to determine the presence of these 10 factors. I believe you too will conclude the evidence shows the USA is a fascist nation. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Sorry, this is somewhat long as diaries go.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;You are supposed to apply this, not just consume it. Please, do not read this if you want to maintain the illusion that the USA is the champion of anti-fascist freedom.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>For (small d) democrats Impeachment Is the Issue of the Day</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/8/31/379037/-For-small-d-democrats-Impeachment-Is-the-Issue-of-the-Day</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Impeachment of Bush is the most important issue of the day, yet the Democratic leadership is refusing to allow its consideration. This dairy entry reviews (1) a recent letter from Kathy Ember to Nancy Pelosi about why the grassroots are being harmed by refusal to consider impeachment, (2) the recent Gallop Poll showing an historical low in the approval rating of Congress, and (3) John Conyers recent interview on Democracy Now! in which he prevaracated once again with lame excuses for avoiding consideration of impeachment. I explain why there is still time to impeach and how it is Nancy Pelosi who is singlehandedly blocking impeachment consideration by Conyer. Why doesn&#x27;t Conyers just come out and say he won&#x27;t consider impeachment because the boss lady, Nancy Pelosi, says he can&#x27;t?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
