<title>Finish the Fight: Volunteer in Virginia</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/31/625267/-Finish-the-Fight-Volunteer-in-Virginia</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;As you all don&#x27;t need me to remind you, Markos has been heavily pushing the importance of giving all we can give to the campaign effort in front page posts like &#x22;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/10/9/11055/1670/758/624699&#x22;&#x3E;Break their back, crush their spirits&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x22;. I couldn&#x27;t agree with him more about the importance of &#x22;leaving everything on the road.&#x22; &#x26;nbsp;I&#x27;ve been volunteering full time as a Deputy Field Organizer in Virginia for some time now and I can&#x27;t say more emphatically how important it is that everyone lend their weight to our efforts across the nation. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Because as I said in my previous post, this isn&#x27;t just about one campaign, or a collection of campaigns. &#x26;nbsp;This is about fundamentally changing the political landscape of the United States. &#x26;nbsp;This is about shattering utterly the remanants of the Reagan coalition and forging a new political consensus around a Democratic vision. &#x26;nbsp; If we want that to happen, however, we need you more than ever. &#x26;nbsp; Consider this post a call to arms for the Metropolitan DC area. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>The Greatest Disappointment of the Biden-Palin Debate</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/2/618475/-The-Greatest-Disappointment-of-the-Biden-Palin-Debate</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;I want to start this by declaring what everyone here already knows to be true: &#x26;nbsp;Biden did a great job overall in tonight&#x27;s debate. &#x26;nbsp;He connected with his audience, he responded effectively to Palin, he bolstered Obama and attacked McCain. &#x26;nbsp;It may be one of the finest performances of his career. &#x26;nbsp;I&#x27;m sure many others in this community will and are praising those moments far more eloquently than can I. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;In addition all of these wonderful things, however, there is one answer which disappointed me more than I may have words to express, and that is Biden&#x27;s response to the gay rights question. &#x26;nbsp;In fact, it may be the bitterest disappointment of the entire election season. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>The Politics Candidates Make - Why Kossacks Support Obama</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/5/7/511515/-The-Politics-Candidates-Make-Why-Kossacks-Support-Obama</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;As a political junkie and regular reader of Daily Kos, I&#x27;ve often wondered why I - and so many other people on this site - have been so compelled by Obama&#x27;s campaign. &#x26;nbsp;Both Hillary and Barack are extremely strong candidates and the Democratic Party has on the whole been extremely lucky (campaign bitterness aside) to have both of them as candidates for our nation&#x27;s most important public office. At first glance, there is no particular reason why we should all be supporting Obama. Both candidates have similar policies (I&#x27;m expressly NOT getting into specifics on this), they are both good, solid Democrats, and they both will work hard if elected to promote our agenda. &#x26;nbsp;An observer might be inclined to think that we would split relatively equally in our support of each candidate. &#x26;nbsp;Obviously, this is not the case. &#x26;nbsp;But why?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Obama&#x27;s Non-Oprah Support, or Why Campaigns Need Technocrats and Intellectuals</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/11/27/415195/-Obama-s-Non-Oprah-Support-or-Why-Campaigns-Need-Technocrats-and-Intellectuals</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;The recent announcement of Oprah&#x27;s plans to campaign with Barack Obama in the coming weeks has sparked a firestorm of interest in the potential impact on the horserace as it stands today. &#x26;nbsp;While Oprah&#x27;s support certainly constitutes a public relations coup for the Obama campaign, and will enhance Obama&#x27;s already strong crowd turnouts and popularity, it is important to recognize that the support of big name celebrities is in some ways a secondary concern as far as developing a sound, policy rich campaign. &#x26;nbsp;Obama will benefit from Oprah&#x27;s appearances because he is and remains a credible candidate, but it is not Oprah&#x27;s support that makes him a credible candidate in the first place. &#x26;nbsp;What does make him a credible candidate his his well thought out policy prescriptions and the intellectual depth and vigor he and his campaign seem to bring to the race. &#x26;nbsp;The underpinnings of that kind of strength come not from headliners (like Oprah) but from technocrats and intellectuals who align themselves with his campaign. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Generalship, Congress and the Modern Armed Forces</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/5/17/335677/-Generalship-Congress-and-the-Modern-Armed-Forces</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Well, when I first signed up for an account on this website, I never though I&#x27;d actually be submitting a post to the wider community on much of anything; I thought I might at most want to make a few comments on other stuff I had read. &#x26;nbsp;I&#x27;ve always been really impressed with this community (which up until now I&#x27;ve been a silent member of), and so when I read &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.armedforcesjournal.com/2007/05/2635198&#x22;&#x3E;this article&#x3C;/a&#x3E; in Armed Forces Journal, I knew where to come. &#x26;nbsp;Anyway, without further ado, Generals and Policy:&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
