<title>OH-Sen: A plan to clean up Washington</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/9/30/906586/-OH-Sen-A-plan-to-clean-up-Washington</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Today, &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.fisherforohio.com/news/press_releases?id=0138&#x22;&#x3E;I released my plan to fix a broken Washington&#x3C;/a&#x3E; and restore accountability and transparency to the political process. It&#x27;s no secret that unless we address these process issues head on, all the other policies we care about -- a public option, equality in the military, extending unemployment benefits, ending tax benefits for companies that ship jobs overseas -- will be in jeopardy.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;The driving idea behind my plan is that our democracy is about one person, one vote, not one corporation or one special interest, one vote.&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; &#x26;nbsp;The political process must not be subverted by corporate spending without transparency. &#x26;#160;That&#x27;s why my plan includes a constitutional amendment that allows Congress to ban corporate financing of political campaigns, something &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2010/9/24/904910/-OH-Sen:-Poster-Boy-of-Citizens-United&#x22;&#x3E;I wrote a diary about last week&#x3C;/a&#x3E;. &#x26;#160;The recent Supreme Court decision in the Citizens United case undermines the core American value that guarantees that our voters, not special-interest groups and corporations, decide the future of our country.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>OH-Sen: Poster Boy of Citizens United</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/9/24/904910/-OH-Sen-Poster-Boy-of-Citizens-United</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;The Supreme Court&#x27;s ruling in &#x3C;em&#x3E;Citizens United&#x3C;/em&#x3E; has allowed unprecedented corporate takeover of our democracy; the 39 Republican Senators who voted against the DISCLOSE Act yesterday are allowing it to happen.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Yesterday, &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.fisherforohio.com/news/press_releases?id=0132&#x22;&#x3E;I challenged my opponent Congressman Rob Portman&#x3C;/a&#x3E; to come out in support of the DISCLOSE Act, a bill which would go a long way towards arresting the catastrophic effects of the decision.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Of course he ignored my challenge, because &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Congressman Rob Portman has become a poster boy of the Citizens United ruling.&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>OH-SEN: How I&#x27;ll beat Rob Portman</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/5/6/864223/-OH-SEN-How-I-ll-beat-Rob-Portman</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;This fall, Ohio presents the Democratic Party with one of its best opportunities in the nation to pick up a Senate seat that is currently held by a Republican. Senator George Voinovich is retiring at the end of this term, and earlier this week I won the Democratic primary election to serve as the nominee for our party this fall.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;I&#x27;d like to congratulate Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner for running a hard-fought, substantive campaign in the primary. She&#x27;s a tough competitor, a good Democrat, and a tireless advocate for the state of Ohio who I hope will continue to serve us in the future.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;But now our attention switches to the general election fight ahead, and the choice between my opponent and me couldn&#x27;t be clearer.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Live from NN09: Why I&#x27;m Running for OH-Sen</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/8/14/766888/-Live-from-NN09-Why-I-m-Running-for-OH-Sen</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.fisherforohio.com&#x22;&#x3E;I&#x26;rsquo;m Lee Fisher&#x3C;/a&#x3E;, and I&#x26;rsquo;m running for the Democratic nomination to replace George Voinovich (R-OH) in the U.S. Senate.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;I&#x26;rsquo;m here at Netroots Nation in Pittsburgh today, and it&#x26;rsquo;s wonderful to be surrounded by so many committed progressive activists. I know only a fraction of the online community is at the convention center this week, so I thought this would be a good time to have my first live blogging session on DailyKos. I&#x26;rsquo;ll be responding to comments below for at least another half hour, so I hope you&#x27;ll ask any questions you have about the race or my candidacy.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;But first, I&#x26;rsquo;d like to lay out some of my priorities and a couple of the things that have driven me throughout my career to fight for the hardworking men and women of Ohio.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
