<title>The Politics of Torture and Guantanamo Bay</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/1/21/828121/-The-Politics-of-Torture-and-Guantanamo-Bay</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Combat Veterans and Senator Elect Scott Brown (R-MA) are arriving on Capitol Hill today with opposite messages. Your voice is needed too. More than 20 veterans working with New Security Action and VoteVets will be meeting with Members of Congress and their staffs to talk about why the prison at Guantanamo Bay needs to be closed now. These veterans will be speaking from experience, with the first-hand knowledge that Gitmo does not make us safer. But tell that individuals like Senator Elect Scott Brown who used justified torture in his campaign and played on the fears of the public to push a distortions about the prison. But we&#x27;re not going to stand silent. We, VoteVets and thousands of others are speaking out today. Join us.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/1/20/827583/-Enough-Fear-Some-Common-Sense-on-Gitmo-Video</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;With the anniversary of the president&#x27;s commitment to closing Guantanamo this week, New Security Action is releasing a new video highlighting Republican fearmongering on Gitmo, featuring veteran and terrorist interrogator Matthew Alexander.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Former Gitmo Guard Befriends Ex-Detainees Through Facebook (Video)</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/1/13/824636/-Former-Gitmo-Guard-Befriends-Ex-Detainees-Through-Facebook-Video</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;In one of the most amazing stories I&#x27;ve heard since the prison at Guantanamo Bay was opened, a former guard, Brandon Neely of Texas, has come out against the prison and is talking about his old job. But he didn&#x27;t stop just there. He reached out to two former detainees on Facebook, then flew to Great Britain to meet them and apologize in person. Said Neely about Gitmo: &#x22;The news would always try to make Guantanamo into this great place ... like &#x27;they [prisoners] were treated so great&#x27;. No it wasn&#x27;t. You know here I was basically just putting innocent people in cages.&#x22;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Mark Kirk: The Officer of Misinformation on Afghanistan</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/1/11/823960/-Mark-Kirk-The-Officer-of-Misinformation-on-Afghanistan</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;More than 500 people have been released from the prison at Guantanamo Bay because we had no reason to hold them. They were picked up for the wrong reasons in mass raids, locked away based on old grudges, misinformation and hearsay. The military let them go because they looked for a terrorist and didn&#x27;t find one. But some people can&#x27;t be bothered with pesky things like facts or numbers. Some people are like Illinois Rep. Mark Kirk who, quite proudly, remarked that Taliban leadership was staffed and lead by &#x22;hardened&#x22; former Gitmo detainees. This despite the fact that a majority of Taliban leadership has &#x3C;em&#x3E;never ... been ... in ... Gitmo&#x3C;/em&#x3E;.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>New York Times Recycles Debunked Gitmo Recidivism Story</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/1/8/823022/-New-York-Times-Recycles-Debunked-Gitmo-Recidivism-Story</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Maybe they thought the report would be less wrong the second go round. For some reason, the New York Times thought it was fit to essentially reprint a retracted story about Gitmo detainees and their recidivism numbers. Now claiming that one-in-five detainees &#x22;return to the fight,&#x22; this new story sounds a lot like an old one that made a similar, junk science claim. But folks aren&#x27;t letting this one sit idle. Here&#x27;s a round up of what our friends are saying about this fraudulent report.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Flip-flopping With Jim DeMint</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/1/5/822038/-Flip-flopping-With-Jim-DeMint</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Poor Sen. Jim DeMint. He just can&#x27;t decide if he&#x27;s unhappy with President Obama because of semantics or if he thinks the President is actually doing a good job with counter-terrorism. And it doesn&#x27;t help that DeMint&#x27;s been repeating Dick Cheney&#x27;s meme that Obama is afraid to use the word &#x22;terrorism.&#x22; Nothing like an argument over frivolous word choice in the middle of our very serious national security debate. It must be just so very, very hard for DeMint to figure out this flip-floppin&#x27; conundrum, especially when he&#x27;s so busy putting the nation at risk by holding up political appointees to the Transportation Security Agency. What? DeMint didn&#x27;t mention that? It&#x27;s something about Unions. Scary, scary unions. Those same Unions who aren&#x27;t al Qaeda and aren&#x27;t a threat to our national security.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>More Crazy Talk On Gitmo</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/12/18/816253/-More-Crazy-Talk-On-Gitmo</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Sometimes to win a losing argument you just have to stop making sense. In the case of some Republicans and the prison at Guantanamo Bay playing &#x22;crazy&#x22; seems to be the best bet. Nothing like playing Chicken Little Hawk with your head cut off, throwing your beaks up to the sky, screaming, &#x22;The terrorists are coming! The terrorists are coming!&#x22; Of course, they&#x27;re &#x22;coming&#x22; to a maximum security prison in rural Illinois where they will be housed until they face trial. And they will be in prison on US soil, the same soil that currently holds more than 300 terrorists, international and domestic. The same soil where since 2001, 195 terrorists have been tried and convicted. This is a been there, done that situation. But I guess, scream now, scream again is more apropos for some Republicans.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Crazy Vs. Common Sense on Gitmo</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/12/17/815750/-Crazy-Vs-Common-Sense-on-Gitmo</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;White House Press Secy. Robert Gibbs didn&#x27;t mince any words Tuesday when he unabashedly called some of the Great Right Wing Freak-Out over Guantanamo Bay detainees coming to a prison in Thomson, Ill. &#x22;crazy.&#x22; He specifically called out GOP House Minority Leader John Boehner when he said, &#x22;I have seen some far crazier comments today -- comments from people like John Boehner. Here&#x27;s what I would suggest for John Boehner. Call up Leon Panetta or Denny Blair at the CIA or the director of national intelligence. Ask them if he can come down and watch a video put out by al Qaeda senior leadership like -- the names that we recognize, (Ayman al-) Zawahiri. Thirty-two times since 2001 and four times this year alone, senior al Qaeda leadership in recruiting videos have used the prison at Guantanamo Bay as a clarion call to bring extremists from around the world to join their effort.&#x22; But can you fight &#x22;The Crazy&#x22; with logic?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>The &#x22;True&#x22; Believers On Gitmo</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/12/15/814555/-The-True-Believers-On-Gitmo</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;A group of pro-Gitmo politicians and activists met in New York. They claimed they believed in America, they just didn&#x27;t believe America was strong enough to handle terrorists. They didn&#x27;t believe in an America that could successfully bring justice to the victims of 9/11. They didn&#x27;t believe in the judicial system or the Constitution that backs it. They didn&#x27;t believe in all the things that make America &#x22;America.&#x22; What do they believe in? Fear. It&#x27;s all they have. It&#x27;s what they cling to, and they&#x27;re not afraid to tear down our institutions just to make their scare-tactics stick&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/8/24/574081/-From-Brangelina-to-O-Biden</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;When it comes to celebrity, we Americans have an obsession of smashing the names of famous couples together like &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Bennifer&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;, &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Billary&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;, &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Bennifer II&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;, &#x3C;strong&#x3E;TomKat&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;, &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Vaughniston&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;, &#x3C;strong&#x3E;McGosling&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; and of course the robust and insane sounding &#x3C;em&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;Brangelina&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/em&#x3E;. (My favorite because it sounds like a hearty breakfast cereal.) But when it comes to presidential candidates and their veeps we need to nip this thing in the bud.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;em&#x3E;Por ejemplo:&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>John McCain, The Cindy Brady of Presidential Politics</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/7/3/545977/-John-McCain-The-Cindy-Brady-of-Presidential-Politics</link>

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Sometimes with all the attention paid to &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Barack Obama&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;, &#x3C;strong&#x3E;the Clintons&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; and soaring gas prices I forget that &#x3C;strong&#x3E;John McCain&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; is running. Seriously. He&#x27;s become the &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Cindy Brady&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; of presidential candidates. Or worse, the &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judy_Winslow_%28character%29&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;Judy Winslow&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/a&#x3E;. Some days he barely puts a dent in the news cycle, and Tuesday, when he finally gets a storyline all to himself it&#x27;s about &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0708/11474.html&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;em&#x3E;how sucky his campaign is going&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x3C;/a&#x3E; for a guy who had a four-month head start.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>It&#x27;s Now Barack Obama Versus An Old, Boring But Potentially Lethal John McCain</title>

<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;That was some warm up act.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;Barack Obama&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; and &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Hillary Clinton&#x27;s&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; gladiator epic, which lasted for more than a year, will be officially over when &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/clinton&#x22;&#x3E;she endorses Obama and suspends her campaign&#x3C;/a&#x3E; on Friday. Everyone said it was to the Republicans&#x27; advantage that their field of weak candidates didn&#x27;t continue to soften each other up, instead rolling over for &#x3C;strong&#x3E;John McCain&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; once it became obvious &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Ron Paul&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; wasn&#x27;t going to set the party aflame.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Please, Stop Insulting Hitler&#x27;s &#x22;Sui Generis&#x22; Art of Misery</title>

<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;em&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;Osama bin Laden&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; is a parlor game compared to &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Adolf Hitler&#x27;s&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; &#x22;Final Solution,&#x22; but people keep making the comparison anyway. Please, stop belittling the man&#x27;s unholy horrors that brought the world to its knees by comparing him to a bunch of rag tag guerrilla fighters who lack what was at the time, the world&#x27;s most advanced killing machine.&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

It&#x27;s over. Really. It is. Obama won. It was a great race. &#x3C;em&#x3E;Yadda, yadda.&#x3C;/em&#x3E; It&#x27;s time to iron out the wrinkles, placate the egos and get back to making sweet love over universal healthcare and budget balancing. Let&#x27;s do that!&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>An Obama Family Album</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/5/5/509443/-An-Obama-Family-Album</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;img alt=&#x22;Future First Family&#x22; src=&#x22;http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3102/2467666579_11a221bd34.jpg?v=0&#x22; title=&#x22;Future First Family&#x22; /&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Most people don&#x27;t talk about it that much, but the Obama family is the most telegenic potentially presidential family in recent memory. And this is true no matter how you feel about them. The press never seems to tire of taking pictures of the quartet and nearly all pictures of Barack take an iconic tone, bordering on idolatry. Pictures of the whole Obama unit are postcards of familial bliss. Even &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Chris Matthews&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; of &#x22;Hardball&#x22; is frequently amazed at the beauty of the Obama clan, routinely remarking on it whenever they&#x27;re together at an event.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Are Obama&#x27;s Chickens Coming Home to Say They Have Nothing to Apologize For?</title>

<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;I checked out &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Rev. Jeremiah Wright&#x27;s&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; Hallelujah strut in &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0WTTkqXDhZIrH4AGw3QtDMD;_ylu=X3oDMTBjMHZkMjZyBHBvcwMxBHNlYwNzcg--/SIG=12r8sq1j2/EXP=1209491479/**http%3a//news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080428/ap_on_el_pr/obama_wright_excerpts_1&#x22;&#x3E;Amen Corner of the &#x3C;strong&#x3E;NAACP&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; convention&#x3C;/a&#x3E;. He&#x27;s been making the rounds after an interview with &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Bill Moyers&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; followed by at a press conference today and another speech to the press club today. And as fascinating as I found the guy, I didn&#x27;t think he helped his ace &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Barack Obama&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; at all. Mostly because Wright, &#x3C;em&#x3E;who&#x27;s not running for president&#x3C;/em&#x3E;, was himself in full, unrepentant, proud, defiant, resilient, brilliant and glib, charging that his critics were misguided, miseducated and misinformed.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Doug Wilder: It&#x27;ll Be Rough But Obama&#x27;s Got It (He Hopes)</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/4/24/502699/-Doug-Wilder-It-ll-Be-Rough-But-Obama-s-Got-It-He-Hopes</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;em&#x3E;This is the latest installment on my series looking at the opinions of prominent black Americans on Barack Obama&#x27;s candidacy. The first time around I highlighted &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://blacksnob.blogspot.com/search?q=black+conservatives&#x22;&#x3E;black conservatives&#x3C;/a&#x3E;. After an overwhelming response for more opinions from more people, I&#x27;ve decided to continue the series, widening the scope to political leaders, activists, authors, journalists and other influential individuals. These posts will run twice a week on &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://blacksnob.blogspot.com/&#x22;&#x3E;The Black Snob&#x3C;/a&#x3E; and on &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.dailykos.com/user/blacksnob&#x22;&#x3E;Blacksnob&#x27;s DailyKos journal&#x3C;/a&#x3E;.&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Poor Pitiful Black Politicians For Hillary and the Great Black Blogger Revolt</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/4/17/497050/-Poor-Pitiful-Black-Politicians-For-Hillary-and-the-Great-Black-Blogger-Revolt</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;I first read about CNN&#x27;s hack piece on the alleged thuggery of black bloggers attacking innocent &#x3C;em&#x3E;Captain Save-A-Negro&#x3C;/em&#x3E; legislators on &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.jackandjillpolitics.com/2008/04/cnn-does-disservice-to-black-bloggers.html&#x22;&#x3E;Jack and Jill Politics&#x3C;/a&#x3E; and at first I really didn&#x27;t think that much of it. The media, often not dealing with minority issues unless it involves haphazard Black History Month features, the exploits of prison-prone proto-thugs or Orenthal James Simpson. Therefore the advent of &#x22;Barack Obama: junior senator from Illinois who talks pretty,&#x22; to &#x22;Barack Obama: the man who could be president&#x22; has forced a lot of journalists to enroll in a crash course of &#x22;The Ways of Black Folks 101.&#x22;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Jesus Is My Running Mate: Why I&#x27;m Sick of Religion In My Politics</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/4/16/497045/-Jesus-Is-My-Running-Mate-Why-I-m-Sick-of-Religion-In-My-Politics</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;I don&#x26;rsquo;t know if &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Abraham Lincoln&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; could have run for president in this environment.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;And when I say environment, I mean the pious air of pandering that has been wafting through the air before this campaign season even began.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Although I consider myself a Christian I cringe every time a politician attempts to kiss up to the Christ in me. Saying that Jesus is your running mate does not garner any votes in my demographic of &#x22;nerdy black Christians for separation of church and state,&#x22; and for most of my lifetime Democrats tried to appear more mainstream no matter what their religious beliefs. It was the Republicans who passed around the piety as potential nominees tripped over each other to kiss the ring of theocracy.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Fear and Loathing in Black America: Clarence Thomas and Barack Obama</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/4/13/495086/-Fear-and-Loathing-in-Black-America-Clarence-Thomas-and-Barack-Obama</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;em&#x3E;This is the last in a series I started two weeks ago on black conservative opinion on Barack Obama here at &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://blacksnob.blogspot.com/&#x22;&#x3E;The Black Snob&#x3C;/a&#x3E;. I appreciate everyone reading the series even if the people I wrote about made you want to froth at the mouth. I hope everyone learned something from it.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;While I do not always agree with what many black conservatives have to say, I do not believe them to be the racial bogeymen they are often made out to be. I wanted to hear what they had to say about Obama and the presidential race because all too often we put ourselves in individual echo chambers where the only views we ever hear are our own. This last piece is on Clarence Thomas. Justice Thomas has never divulged any opinion from what I could find on Obama, but that wasn&#x27;t entirely necessary. This last piece is more on the sickness of racism and the self-imposed racial prisons we put ourselves in. Thanks again for reading.&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>JC Watts and Barack Obama Both Made History (Only Obama&#x27;s Is the Only One People Talk About)</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/4/4/490363/-JC-Watts-and-Barack-Obama-Both-Made-History-Only-Obama-s-Is-the-Only-One-People-Talk-About</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;em&#x3E;This is part of a series on Black conservative thought on Barack Obama&#x27;s candidacy. So far I&#x27;ve reviewed the views of &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://blacksnob.blogspot.com/2008/03/friend-or-frienemies-black.html&#x22;&#x3E;Amy Holmes&#x3C;/a&#x3E;, &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://blacksnob.blogspot.com/2008/03/does-condi-heart-barack-shell-never.html&#x22;&#x3E;Condoleezza Rice&#x3C;/a&#x3E;, &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://blacksnob.blogspot.com/2008/04/ward-connerly-likes-obama-but-would.html&#x22;&#x3E;Ward Connerly&#x3C;/a&#x3E;, &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://blacksnob.blogspot.com/2008/04/shelby-steele-thinks-obama-is-gamble.html&#x22;&#x3E;Shelby Steele&#x3C;/a&#x3E; and &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://blacksnob.blogspot.com/2008/04/alan-keyes-has-stopped-making-sense-on.html&#x22;&#x3E;Alan Keyes&#x3C;/a&#x3E;.&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;JC Watts, no matter how you feel about him, did something very remarkable that few black politicians can do &#x26;#8211; get elected to Congress from a majority white district. Watts went against local party leaders, running where the establishment did not want him to run and succeeding. I don&#x26;rsquo;t always agree with Watts, but that is something to be celebrated.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Alan Keyes Is Not Making Sense (On Everything But Most Especially Barack Obama)</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/4/3/489462/-Alan-Keyes-Is-Not-Making-Sense-On-Everything-But-Most-Especially-Barack-Obama</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;em&#x3E;This is part of a black conservatives on Obama series at &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://blacksnob.blogspot.com&#x22;&#x3E;The Black Snob&#x3C;/a&#x3E; where we study things black Republicans have said about Barack Obama candidacy for president and surmise who will vote or support for him and who will not. Previous entries were done on &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://blacksnob.blogspot.com/2008/03/friend-or-frienemies-black.html&#x22;&#x3E;Amy Holmes&#x3C;/a&#x3E;, &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://blacksnob.blogspot.com/2008/03/does-condi-heart-barack-shell-never.html&#x22;&#x3E;Condoleezza Rice&#x3C;/a&#x3E;, &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://blacksnob.blogspot.com/2008/04/ward-connerly-likes-obama-but-would.html&#x22;&#x3E;Ward Connerly&#x3C;/a&#x3E; and &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://blacksnob.blogspot.com/2008/04/shelby-steele-thinks-obama-is-gamble.html&#x22;&#x3E;Shelby Steele&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/em&#x3E;.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Alan Keyes &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Keyes_Is_Making_Sense&#x22;&#x3E;has never made sense&#x3C;/a&#x3E; to me.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;I&#x26;rsquo;ve never had much respect for him. He is, by far, one of the most disturbing and frustrating type of black Republican. He seems to only exist to provoke and destroy the aspirations of blacks who don&#x26;rsquo;t share his narrow, bigoted view of America.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Shelby Steele Thinks Barack Obama&#x27;s Campaign Is A Gamble That&#x27;s Coming Up Craps</title>

<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;em&#x3E;This is part of a black conservatives on Obama series at &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://blacksnob.blogspot.com&#x22;&#x3E;The Black Snob&#x3C;/a&#x3E;. &#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;Shelby Steele&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; has always been fascinating to me. &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=2de3a099-5261-4a72-842c-b6c1a653880e&#x22;&#x3E;On one hand I find his views interesting&#x3C;/a&#x3E;. On the other hand I feel like his views on race are severely stunted. Like his opinions on anti-intellectualism in black culture. I don&#x26;rsquo;t think black people have cornered the market on anti-intellectualism. Modern American culture, black and white is pro-anti-intellectualism. How else to you explain the election of George W. Bush and the pushback against science? The people who make museums that argue that the earth is 6,000 years old and that men and dinosaurs roamed the earth at the same time?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Ward Connerly Likes Obama (But Would Like Him More If He Didn&#x27;t Have &#x22;Quota Cooties&#x22;)</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/4/1/488244/-Ward-Connerly-Likes-Obama-But-Would-Like-Him-More-If-He-Didn-t-Have-Quota-Cooties</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;em&#x3E;This is part of a black conservatives on Obama series at &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://blacksnob.blogspot.com&#x22;&#x3E;The Black Snob&#x3C;/a&#x3E;. &#x3C;p&#x3E;When it comes to white hot hatred towards any black conservative &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Ward Connerly&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; probably raises the most hackles. Possibly even more than Clarence Thomas who&#x26;rsquo;s had to endure a-many Judas calls in the black community. Connerly is the Affirmative Action defeating warrior declaring the time of race-based preferences has past. That we&#x26;rsquo;ve moved on and things are better now, so we don&#x26;rsquo;t need it.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;A few people disagree with that, but so far Connerly has been successful at killing Affirmative Action in California, Washington state and Michigan. He has his &#x22;eyes on the prize&#x22; in five states this fall, pushing ballot initiatives in Missouri, Arizona, Colorado, Oklahoma and Nebraska.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Does Condi Heart Barack? She&#x27;ll Never Tell</title>

<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;em&#x3E;This is part two of an installment on the varying opinions of black conservatives, moderates and Republicans on Barack Obama where The Snob searches for answers to her privy: Will black Republicans be playing on Team Obama come the general? &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://blacksnob.blogspot.com/2008/03/friend-or-frienemies-black.html&#x22;&#x3E;On Sunday conservative pundit Amy Holmes went up for bat&#x3C;/a&#x3E;. Today we take a look at Condoleezza Rice&#x26;rsquo;s words and thoughts on Obama.&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Before I can talk about &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Condoleezza Rice&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;, I have to dump some of my own racial, gender Condi psycho-drama in your lap. Apologies. I&#x27;m incapable of writing about the woman without a disclaimer.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Will Barack Obama Bring Black Conservatives and Liberals Together?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/3/30/487238/-Will-Barack-Obama-Bring-Black-Conservatives-and-Liberals-Together</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;A lot of people talk about Sen. Barack Obama in the terms of him bringing Democrats and Republicans together by being willing to cross the aisle and reach out to Republicans. While this notion is nice, I don&#x26;rsquo;t quite see that happening if Obama makes it to the White House. Most Republicans, with a few rare exceptions, have been unwilling to cede any ground to the Democrats, or even the center in some cases. It&#x26;rsquo;s typically the Democrats capitulating as many Democratic senators and representatives were elected as centrists in Republican or moderate districts.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;No, the great unification I&#x26;rsquo;m more interested in is the myriad of reactions from black conservatives, politicians and pundits to Obama&#x26;rsquo;s ascension from freshman senator to Democratic sensation.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
