Yesterday's Band of Brothers Press Conference in Texas (VIDEO and AUDIO)

Watch the video or listen to the podcast (scroll to 12 minutes in for start of press conference). It starts with a question to Mary Beth Harrell about whether her son in Iraq has a position on whether to get out of Iraq. Her answer - which you must hear for yourself - is sane and reasoned. She describes what should be happening in Iraq but isn't. She says her son doesn't understand why this administration has completely ignored a plan that worked previously - Bosnia - and refused/refuses to have a plan for success in Iraq other than "staying the course," which is not working. It's the definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results.

It's time for Dean to do his job!

There is no link here, just a statement. This weekend Democrats need to be hitting back hard on Bush's lowsy press conference and the new (again), horrible line on Social Security. It's time for Howard Dean to show up on TV and blast this thing as the lie that it is!

Come on Howard, we know you can do it.

BAGHDAD - The commander of the Iraqi National Guard in the capital city was assassinated on Tuesday by a suicide bomber who drove a car bomb into the convoy transporting the official, witnesses said.

In addition to killing Madhar al-Maula, the explosion wounded several convoy passengers. Sheikh Hazim al-Shalan, the interim defence minister, later visited the site of the explosion.

North of Baghdad, a dozen Iraqi policemen were killed by insurgents who attacked a police station about 15 kilometres outside Tikrit, police said.

The attack was the deadliest among several in the area that claimed 17 lives, police said.

In addition to the twelve, five policemen died in attacks on two other police stations in the Tikrit area, an election office in Balad, a community about 80 kilometres south of Tikrit, and the village outside Tikrit where Saddam Hussein was born.
Democrat DA forces US House Republicans to change their rules

I happened upon C-SPAN last night and there they were, the House Republicans, trying to explain away the reason they are changing their rule disqualifying committee and subcommittee chairs and their leadership from still holding their seats if indicted. One interesting ploy about this is how they would always list leadership last when talking about this. Always committee chairs first. That's part of their plan to try and make it seem that they're not just doing this to protect DeLay, The Leader.

LIberal radio going away.

I'm not sure if anyone here has seen or already posted this, UAW Pulls the Plug on Liberal Talk-Radio Network. This is the only libreral/progressive radio left (no pun intended). Namely Mike Malloy and Thom Hartmann. Here is a petition to get the new Liberal talk radio network, Clean Air, to hire Mike Malloy. I found this network about a year ago and it is great to hear opinions like this on the radio. Please help.

Questioning an Iraq War Assumption.

There is one assumption I want to look at. Everybody thinks that this administration didn't have a plan when they went into Iraq. Well I'm not so sure that as far as they are concerned that everything is going according to plan. I don't believe that they wanted to go in, kick out Saddam, setup a democracy and be out in a year. If that was the case they could not effectively steal Iraq's resources and US taxpayer money. It is a very cynical view but these people see the US military as a less expensive security option for their corporations than mercenaries. If you owned a corporation wouldn't you rather use taxpayer subsidized security than pay for it out of your own pocket? The other thing is the ongoing insurgency is great cover for stories like this, High Payments to Halliburton for Fuel in Iraq. Just something to think about.
