<title>McCain&#x27;s disdain for Obama in plain sight</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/7/623427/-McCain-s-disdain-for-Obama-in-plain-sight</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Senator McCain&#x27;s visceral dislike of Obama was on full display tonight, but even I was surprised at what I saw on MSNBC after the debate as the candidates were working the crowd. It was a brief moment but spoke volumes about the depth of McCain&#x27;s feelings.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>I feel therefore I vote. McCain vs. Obama. Lessons from 2004. </title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/9/28/613334/-I-feel-therefore-I-vote-McCain-vs-Obama-Lessons-from-2004</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;During the last presidential election cycle, I spent untold hours talking to voters while canvassing my precinct, making phone bank calls from the local Democratic Committee office, and talking to colleagues at work. I could talk about all sorts of facts regarding the candidates&#x27; domestic and foreign policy positions, voting records, political appointments and stated political philosophy. The partisans on each side either agreed or disagreed with me and went their merry way. No surprise in that. More surprising to me was the reaction of the undecided voters. They weren&#x27;t particularly interested in or swayed by rational discussion either. In the end, voting for many of them was an emotional decision. They would vote for whichever candidate they just felt better about.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Daniel Pipes - Civil War in Iraq would not be that bad for our interests</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/3/4/191644/-Daniel-Pipes-Civil-War-in-Iraq-would-not-be-that-bad-for-our-interests</link>
<description>OK, I guess nothing should surprise me anymore, but I am surprised nevertheless that there was so little attention given to a recent article in the &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.danielpipes.org/article/3423&#x22;&#x3E;New York Sun&#x3C;/a&#x3E; and a radio interview on &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.abc.net.au/lateline/content/2006/s1582736.htm&#x22;&#x3E;ABC News Lateline Australia&#x3C;/a&#x3E; by Dr. Daniel Pipes in which he says &#x3C;blockquote&#x3E; Civil war in Iraq, in short, would be a humanitarian tragedy but not a strategic one.&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;

To his credit (yes, I &#x3C;i&#x3E;am&#x3C;/i&#x3E; being sarcastic), Pipes does admit that &#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;Well, let me start by emphasising that it is a humanitarian disaster and in no sense do I want one to take place. It&#x27;s a horrible prospect.&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;

Before continuing on to say &#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;Should, however, it take place I don&#x27;t, think from the point of view of the coalition it is necessarily that bad for our interests.&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;

I somehow think most Iraqi&#x27;s would be quite relieved to hear of Dr. Pipes&#x27; concern for their welfare in a civil war fomented by U.S. intervention and disdain for postwar planning.
&#x3C;p&#x3E;(more on the flip)&#x3C;p&#x3E;</description>
