But the basics were that somebody in some country other than our own--for whatever value of "our" and "own" you may have--was digging to some great depth and for some reason or other sent a microphone down into the depths.</p> <p>Anyway, you were supposed to be shaken and terrified and chilled to your very soul. At least Art Bell was. I, on the other hand, about a third of the way into the wailing and moaning and screaming began to giggle.</p> <p>Why? Today, it's trying to pull some data out by age. But just some. There's been too much fiddling with the numbers over the years. And while the data is available and easily accessible, the "librul media" rarely bothers to question the "official numbers". Now, as a good friend of mine used to say, "Never attribute to malice what can be attributed to incompetence" and given <em>math is hard</em> (whine), there may be no more agenda behind this than simple laziness.</p> <p>Either way, this bugs me.
