2009 Stimulus First Time Homebuyer's Credit Changes

As the debate has begun in the Senate over the Economic Recovery Bill, I've paid great attention to the changes in the 2009 First Time Homebuyer's Credit. As the bill currently stands, if you purchased a home from April 2008-June 2009, you receive a $7500 tax credit that is repaid over 15 years, which is a 0% loan from the government, to be paid back at $500 per year.

Well, the economic stimulus package has changed this, and as a first time homebuyer, I'm not too thrilled, but hopeful.

Concerns from an Undecided Unabashed Liberal

You can't miss the election anywhere as of late, and the Kos has become vividly alive again with this primary race! Much of what has happened over the past two weeks concerns me greatly as a liberal, voter, and citizen. So many diaries have been focusing on "my candidate is good and your candidate is bad," and it seems like we're slipping into some sort of kids romper room. The race from Democrat to Republican is becoming focused on the candidates and not the issues, once AGAIN.

I'm an undecided Democratic voter. Some of us are still out there. I truly do not have my mind made up about the candidates because quite simply, each one conflicts with things I believe, and this race is rapidly disintegrating. It seems as though the bickering that we're creating on the left is a wet dream for the right. From our side trashing the Clintons to this injected racial element to our campaign, endless new material for hate is out there.

The Endless Clinton, Bush Eras--Case Against HRC

To begin with, I don't post diaries but once in a blue moon, so I hope you enjoy. :) As many, I clearly do not have a frontrunner candidate at this time. My wife continues to tell me that she would have no problem seeing John Edwards' face plastered all over the place for years, but for practical purposes, it's too early. I've only supported one Presidential candidate with pure enthusiasm, and that was Bill Bradley before the media blew up health issues that paled in comparison to McCain.

What I continue to see on the Kos and elsewhere is a double standard when it comes to Hillary Rodham Clinton. I'm a major proponent of seeing a woman President, but Mrs. Clinton is among the least of any candidate that I'd like to see as President. What I don't seem to understand is this absurd double standard of Bush being unqualified and becoming President because of Daddy, but many refuse to make the same argument with Mrs. Clinton.

Cafferty on The Situation Room

Jack Cafferty has been something to see again on The Situation Room. He claims that in his 62 years, the federal government has never bungled an emergency event like this.

They are going to explore the issue of race and social class with this disaster. Good for CNN. What the hell? The media is demanding answers...finally.

Chertoff: Big Improvement on Ridge

Having just seen Michael Chertoff and having read about him since taking over the Department of Homeland Security, the guy actually deserves some credit, which virtually none of the Bushies deserve.

Instead of speaking invoking fear or being self-absorbed like Tom Ridge, Chertoff simply emphasized common sense and, to me, a logical reason for raising the terror alert on mass transit systems.

Yes, there might be no known attacks planned for here, but it appears that wasn't the case in London today. This is a better approach of being proactive with some damn logic.

More Bankruptcy Bill Information

Due to a personal situation, my wife and I have taken keen interest in the bankputcy laws. We've avoided bankruptcy and are slowly improving our situation, as we were yet another victim of a swarm of medical bills and loss of business thanks to the wonderful Bush economy. There is a provision in the 2005 Bankruptcy Bill that I just looked into and it's a hell of a whopper.

BEFORE you file bankruptcy, you MUST enter into a credit counseling service. You know ones called something along the lines of CCCS and most are accompanied by the term "non-profit"...which is laughable. The credit counseling services and the creditors are in bed with one another. The counseling service gets the consumer a deal with lets say MBNA and then the counseling service gets money for the deal. It's corrupt and nothing more than another controlling avenue by the creditors, except for a counseling services that do try to honesty represent their customer, and have their neeeds ahead of the creditors.
STOP Acting Like Losers!

We all have to get a grip on this story with OBL and calm down. On the Friday night of the Halloween weekend, a lot of people are getting ready to party and have a good time. Most aren't watching CNN, FOX, or MSNBC.

We've seen over and over, that these talking heads have been wrong repeatively. Just like Chris Matthews and his MSGOP crew calling debates for Bush and Cheney. If we all start fearing the worst from this tape, then it will come true. Our morale will sink and our GOTV efforts will begin to crumble.

Personally, I see this as a neutralized effect. Some movement towards Bush, some movement towards Kerry. Some will say 9/11 Bush did so well, others will say why the hell is this bastard still out there?
Different Topic: Kerry Ads -- Something Different

Having watched several lifetimes worth of ads for the election down here in Orlando the past eight or so months, there is something that I've noticed, which hasn't been talked about much.

The power of advertising, negative ads, etc are spoken about greatly, but John Kerry has been doing something that we haven't seen much of from a Presidential candidate, he does full length ads, himself.

How many of the KE04 ads have John Kerry speak himself throughout the entire spot? Many. This is a powerful tool and I believe that it is an aspect that has been missed by pundits those wonderful talking heads in examing how (President) Kerry has reached voters and built trust in them.

Today, yet again, he has an ad out with him doing the spot from beginning to end about the Iraq mess and weapons cache. I'm on the business end of the world, so advertising wise, it's a slam dunk with these spots being done by him. Are there any psychologists out there who can add some weight to this argument about the value of the candidate speaking himself?

Thanks and it was my first diary, so I'll work on improving them! :)
