Among his appointees and close associates we’ve had a half-dozen who have pleaded guilty to felonies, been convicted of felonies, or left the administration ‘under a cloud’. We’ve had sex abusers, wife abusers, child predators, rapists, perjurers, liars, and corrupt officials. The hard-core base supporting Trump are evangelical values voters who have reached deep into their bible forgiveness bag to forgive the multiple transgressions, youthful indiscretions, one-time offenses, and locker-room talk by Trump and his associates. What big hearts they have. Really. They follow Trump like lemmings. At the same time, I assume they abide by Hebrews 13:7: Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. To that point let’s take note of what we learned from reporting on Karen McDougal, Trump’s longtime mistress, and on Stormy Daniels, another Trump “one-night-stand” mistress, Trump said to each of them at the time of their intimate sexual moments—“You remind me of my daughter.” I wonder if our dear evangelical pastors (Franklin Graham, James Dobson, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, Jack Graham, etc.), who are so enthralled by their leader Trump, whether during intimate moments with their dear wives, they imitate their leader in accordance with Hebrews 13:7 and say like him in his fashion—“Sweetie, you remind me of my daughter.” I do hope these dear evangelicals will soon wake up. Undo the delusion. Realize they do not see nor are they living in that “Shining City on a Hill”. At the hands of Trump, America is in the process of becoming an abomination and will reap a fate worse than all the plagues of Egypt. A fate not unlike that foretold at Luke 19:41-44. Fascism, in my understanding, is typically a popular movement fueled by (1) a shared anxiety, resentment and grievance over some real or perceived loss, (2) a racist animus, and (3) symbols of national pride. The followers are blindly loyal to the leader(s), tend to be tribal and cultish, and not susceptible to reasonable and factual argument—in fact, have contempt for such and view their purveyors with similar contempt. And, so here we are. Republicans in Congress focus on short term political advantage as they hold their fire and watch as “Rome burns”. Although resistance elsewhere is in full bloom there is no assurance of success against this grave peril to our nation especially if the complacency of Congressional Republicans continues. Comparisons with Hitler are normally too facile and off point but it is worth recalling that the NAZI party garnered 33 percent of the vote prior to him becoming Chancellor in 1933 and it took several years before he overcame the institutional checks on the his power as he co-opted other German national stakeholders including the military, leaders of industry, and many church leaders. Don’t think it can’t happen here. Review the lists above and choose which represents the true, the genuine America—“the shining city on a hill”—or the narcissistic behavior, gross and base instincts, and stream of babble and falsehoods of the thug in the White House. Press and Congressional Representatives are still not permitted reasonable access under conditions protective of the children’s interest. Where are the children? Where are the children’s parents? Would you trust your children or family to the hands of this grossly incompetent administration? That’s a rhetorical question since we in fact did do that in November 2016 with the help of the Russians (my opinion, but circumstantial evidence is compelling). There was a report on ABC news tonight indicating that the Border Patrol was unable to locate a child they had taken into custody. How many more are there like that? Given the chaos and the lack of planning by the Trump Administration, the number has to be at least dozens and maybe hundreds. What a horrific thought for the parents never to see their children again. Getting into the parents’ mind as if it was my child or grandchild—have the children been sold? Are they dead? Are they being abused? Will I ever see them again? I have three children and five grandchildren. I could not bear it. The cavalier manner in which Trump initially put this horrendous policy in place belies a benign intent. This is child abuse. Trump vigorously supported a credibly accused child-molester in the Alabama Senate race in 2017—Roy Moore. Trump himself has been credibly accused of sexual assault by dozens of women. Credible circumstantial evidence suggests that it is Trump, and not Elliott Broidy (a Trump fund-raiser) who paid off his mistress to get an abortion two years ago as documented in a Non-Disclosure Agreement that had unseemly similarities to the Stormy Daniels Non-disclosure Agreement. Did Trump abuse his own children? Is Trump or the Trump Organization profiting from the child separation policy either through human trafficking or other means? Some of these are extreme questions but the opaque manner of Trump’s implementation and execution of the policy raises alarms. We need to keep the focus on the issue until every child is re-united with his or her parent. Since the majority has been dumped into a vast network owned by for-profit contractors, questions naturally arise over the standards the facilities follow. Are the facilities sanitary? Is there adequate food? What is the level of crowding? What is the level of staffing? Is the staff vetted? What is the record of physical or child sexual abuse at the facilities? Although the administration has said that the remaining 2053 children are being treated well and the administration has released its own videos of young boys enjoying themselves playing games and relaxing, the press and the Congress have been permitted very limited access or data on the facilities or the qualifications of caretakers. Given the record of this administration in telling the truth about large and small things since the inauguration, including crowd sizes (LIES) and the number of deaths attributable to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico—Trump says 64 died while other experts say as many as 1427 dies as a result of Maria. And given the record and incompetence of this administration it is not unreasonable to have nightmarish fears of what might be happening to some of the little girls and boys that have been handed over to some low-bid, for-profit contractors. Given our Child-Abuser-in-Chief’s callous disregard for principles of basic human decency and his view of these little brown children described in his own words as vermin and an infestation, is there any reason to expect that he cares? Psychiatrists and pediatricians have already affirmed that the policy itself was manifest child abuse, but how many of the children have subsequently been physically abused? How many have been sexually abused? The fish stinks from the head; why would undercover pedophiles with responsibility for the care of these young children think they would suffer any consequences since Trump has been credibly accused many, many times of sexual assault without any consequences. Besides, who would believe a little brown boy or girl who doesn’t even speak English? That a policy of manifest child abuse could be so blithely implemented with no presidential moral qualms, raises questions of whether Trump may have a personal history of child abuse. We don’t know for sure but the moral obtuseness of this policy, his vigorous political support for Roy Moore—another accused child sexual abuser, and his history of alleged criminal sexual behavior naturally raises that kind of question. Well, in that vein but applying a higher standard we should pursue the following reasonable and aggressive line of inquiry with this fair question: In view of the haphazard manner in which the child separation policy has been implemented, and in view of the fact that the government may not know where every parent’s child is located, and in view of the fact that Trump, the businessman, is always looking for a way to make a buck, is Trump or the Trump Organization profiting from the child separation policy generally, or specifically from any sexual abuse or human trafficking of these young children? This is a very, very fair question in view of the haphazard implementation of Trump’s child separation policy. In the meanwhile, pending the answer to that fair question, we, Congress, and all responsible Journalists should be unrelenting in running to ground where the children are, what their condition is, and what process will safely re-unite each and every one with their parents. We should insist that Trump provide a regular and reliable total count of the separated children including their ages and locations. In the manner of the 1979 hostage crisis, the news media should report each day the total count of still separated children until all the children are safely re-united with their parents. We haven’t always lived up to our American values but almost always we eventually get it right. It was further disclosed that the woman had become pregnant and was going to have or had an abortion. There are several coincidences in this story that suggest all may not be as it seems. <ul> <li>The WSJ story of the Broidy mistress/pregnancy/abortion/NDA came four days after the federal agents raided Michael Cohen’s offices and residences.</li> <li>Curiously, the parties to the NDA use the same pseudonym for Broidy as was used for Trump in the Stormy Daniels NDA—David Dennison. They also use the same pseudonym for Ms Bechard, Peggy Peterson.</li> <li>Michael Cohen is the lawyer for Broidy in the matter of the NDA just as he was for Trump.</li> <li>Keith Davidson is the lawyer for the mistress just as he was for Stormy Daniels in her NDA with Trump and just as he was for Linda MacDougal in her NDA with Trump.</li> <li>Reports are that Broidy, though not a paragon of virtue, did not have a reputation of promiscuous behavior; his reputation was more as the one who paid off the mistresses of politicians rather than paying off his own.</li> <li>The first payment under the NDA with MS Bechard was made in early December 2017 concurrent with Broidy being awarded a hundred million dollar plus contract with UAE for which he lobbied for through advocacy against Qatar with the Trump administration. He met with Trump in early December.</li> <li>And finally, Michael Cohen was reluctant to name his third client—after naming Trump and Broidy—at the hearing with the judge regarding setting up review procedures for the materials the FBI seized during the raid of Cohen’s offices/residences. Why? After eventually naming Hannity, Hannity seemed to react with some surprise in discussions of the matter.</li> </ul> There is not enough data to reach a definitive conclusion but the circumstantial evidence lays out enough dots to plausibly point to Donald Trump as the exclusive client of Michael Cohen. In view of the FBI raid of Cohen properties, it seems there would be a natural interest in shuffling off a recent Trump paid-for abortion to Broidy. If there is another Trump paid-for abortion in the bushes that has not but which may come to light, some loyal soldier’s name would be useful as a preemptive stand-in client to shield Trump from the likely blow back from his evangelical base for being an ongoing abortion machine. Conclusive? No. But certainly plausible based on Trump’s conduct in such matters and the strange and baffling coincidences noted above. National associations of pediatricians and psychiatry confirm the terrible and permanent trauma that results from the abrupt, radical, and brutal separation of parent and child. This includes permanent damage to the developing brain of the child. Why is this happening? Some pundits say it is for leverage Trump wants to use to get funding for his Wall. Others say it is leverage for Trump to get other immigration policy changes. Trump AG and other administration officials say it is to deter the asylum seekers and others fleeing extreme poverty, violence, imminent danger, death, gang violence, or domestic abuse. But whatever Trump’s objective, other humane tactics could be used. Why child abuse? Child abusers typically do not have empathy. Would anyone say that our compulsive, genital grabbing president has a high empathy quotient? Perhaps he was a child abuser before he became president? An interesting data point on that comes from an interview he and Ivanka gave about five years ago on the Wendy Williams Show. He was asked what he and Ivanka had in common, meaning what they both liked. She said business and golf. He said sex. She was visibly offended. The matter was not further explored but a fair question would be--was Ivanka a victim of child abuse at a tender age. Did he abuse his own child? Is the child abuse at the core of Trump’s southern border family separation policy simply part of the warp and woof of Trump’s character and part of a thread going back over decades that includes stiffing of contractors, assaults on women, contempt for the truth, abusive treatment of wives, Trump University fraud, and possibly including abuse of one or more of his own children? It’s a horrific thought. But it could be all of a piece with what is happening on the southern border. Zero tolerance? The pathetic right wing Republican response brings two pertinent analogies to my mind. The first, has a husband coming home from work (let’s make it real and call him Donald, or Paul, or Mitch, or Sean) and he finds his wife being brutally raped in his bedroom. The rapist jumps off the bed and the husband rushes to his wife to offer comfort, compassion, and the “warmest of condolences”. Meanwhile, the rapist is pulling on his pants and tucking in his shirt. Coincidentally, the husband takes a cell phone call from a Democratic colleague to whom he relates what’s unfolded. The democratic colleague urges the husband to call 911, to beat the crap out of the S.O.B., and to not let him get away. The Republican husband retorts over the wailing of his wife that the democrat just wants him to politicize the situation. Meanwhile, the rapist checks his hair in the dresser mirror as he exits the bedroom but before leaving the house grabs a cold one from the fridge and shouts over his shoulder, “I may be back again in a couple of months.” A second relevant analogy is about a bridge in severe disrepair. The bridge has no guard rails; the surface is riddled with deep potholes; and the road surface slants severely toward the bridge edge. For the third time in five years a school bus full of more than twenty elementary school children plunges off the bridge falling one hundred feet into the icy river waters. There are no survivors. Republicans again race to express their condolences for the large loss of life and again say this is no time to politicize the situation. Democrats again call for a guard rail on the bridge and for repair and modification of the bridge surface. Republicans strenuously object and say there is no proof that the repairs would have prevented the tragic loss of life and, besides, the Democrats really just want to abolish the bridge. It would sound something like this: “You know, I just like describing things the way they are and people don’t want to hear it. Take the Catholic pedophiles. How did that happen and why do we tolerate it? The Catholic pedophiles got their training in those closed-off schools and convents and now all our children are at risk. We need to wake up and do something instead of hiding behind political correctness. And what about those Italian gangsters and mafia types? Those Italians came over here uninvited and now we have to put up with all this crime, doping, prostitution and pornography. I’m just saying, maybe we could just find a way to send them all back. And now, look at those Polocks and Croats and Slovaks and Hungarians. You know they’re all kind of strange looking, meaning they just don’t look right. In Pittsburgh we called them “mill Hunkies” because that’s what they were—they worked in the steel mills. Do you ever look at them up close? They have huge foreheads and noses like they’re another race entirely, like they’re Neanderthals or Mongols or something. Why did we let so many of them over here ruining our gene pool? I mean, I’m a red-blooded American, born and bred, always have been and I want to keep it that way and help America be great again. I just don’t understand how we got to the point where we have all these strange people in the country. It may be politically incorrect to say but I think they should all go back. Really! I’m not afraid to say it! We have to make America great again! There are strange things we do out of political correctness that just makes us weaker and weaker in our nation. Here’s one-- opening doors for women. Why would a strong able-bodied man act like some lowly servant and rush to hold a door for some old lady? I know it’s politically incorrect to say holding a door open for a woman degrades our manhood and is one reason we are getting weaker and weaker as a nation. I say, if you’re strong you should act strong and not the opposite. I say push the woman out of the way and go through the door first holding your head high and proud. And if you think she’s a fat bimbo let it fly! Don’t suppress it! Make our nation great again! And of course, the Hispanics coming across our southern border---men, women and children—they’re all drug dealers, murderers and rapists. Maybe the women and children aren’t all rapists, but who knows? We need to wake up and protect our red-blooded American gene pool from being infected with undesirables. When are we going to wake up, America? And don’t get me started on the Jews and the Muslims. There, the solution is staring us right in the face and we are just too afraid to admit it.
