However, the fear that previously reliable conservative voters in whiter, wealthier suburbs may continue to flip blue has prompted an AZ lawmaker to present a bill to potentially suppress  the entire state!</p> <p>The  bill introduced by GOP Rep. Shawnna Bolick, the Republican chair of Arizona's state House Ways and Means Committee,  contains a section that grants the Legislature <a href="https://www.azleg.gov/legtext/55leg/1R/bills/HB2720P.pdf" target="_blank" title="">the ability to revoke</a> the secretary of state's certification "by majority vote at any time before the presidential inauguration”.</p> <p>This is an alarming assault on democracy and should raise red flags. Frighteningly, much enthusiasm remains within the AZ GOP to perpetuate the BIG LIE of a stolen election to justify such egregious behavior.  Thankfully there is bipartisan push back  even in a Republican stronghold like AZ so it is unclear if such a bill would pass.</p> <p>House Speaker Rusty Bowers, a Republican, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/arizona-republicans-rebuff-trump-s-claim-fraud-call-election-audit-n1250087" target="_blank" title="">rebutted President Donald Trump’s </a>attempts to overturn the election results. He also dismissed the idea of the Legislature appointing its own electors to deliver the state's Electoral College votes to Trump. Revenue Ruling 70-549 </a>is a great example of how Congressional pressure keeps the IRS from enforcing tax law when religious organizations are involved.</p> <p>I personally do not believe any congress, but particularity a Democratic one because of “optics”, is going to do anything to address these abuses.</p> <p>“God” does not appear to be intervening either ; ) as they ruthlessly break his Ninth Commandment,  so what can we do?</p> <p>Boycotts against corporations who buy TV ads could be effective against entities like Fox and OAN but would not work here. As far as I am aware their revenue streams are primarily  from donations and selling “branded” products. The medical staff refused to test him for the coronavirus saying in front of the patient —  “It would be a waste of valuable PPE”.</p> <p>In Oregon a Doctor wrote do-not-resuscitate orders for a woman with covid-19 based solely on her intellectual disability.  The hospital  also sent word to the woman's group home to fill out DNRs in advance for  the other residents. This was in March and Oregon had no health care shortages at the time. The hospital’s decision was based solely on their intellectual  disabilities not on their medical viability with treatment.  </p> <p>Both patients eventually received treatment and recovered but only because care givers and lawyers intervened. The 64 yo man was discharged in his usual state of health yet the attending physician wrote orders for “end-of-life hospice care” because his multiple disabilities, resulted in a  "low quality of life” (the appropriately enraged group home staff reported that to authorities as well) .</p> <p>People with intellectual disabilities are being separated from their caregivers and told to sign do-not-resuscitate orders as a condition of hospitalization.  The reasoning is that their “low quality of life” makes them less worthy of medical interventions. Frighteningly these are not just incidents of an individual doctor’s callousness  they are reflections of POLICY.</p> <p><span>States have begun to reveal emergency </span>procedures <span>that seek to bar outright from treatment  people with certain conditions  —  like intellectual disabilities and traumatic brain injuries. They’ve  assembled lists of medical conditions and everyday functional impairments that would clearly screen out disabled people.</span></p> <p><span>These scarcity policies often explicitly exclude people with disabilities. He was  intervening  to help a woman being attacked by a man and was gunned down by a cop who decided who he was by the color of his skin.  </p> <p>    This is the all too familiar tragedy of our time and although nothing can ease the anguish of such callous murders something does appear to have changed the usual outcome. That something is clearly the mobilization of We The People pushing for Justice for All. Fighting against  systemic racism.</p> <p>    The officer, Shaun Lucas, was fired within 5 days of the killing for "his egregious violation of the city's and police department's policies". IMO in large part because  Texas Rangers at the scene stood up and reported  that the actions of Lucas "were not objectionably reasonable".
