Hi everybody! I hope you can stand a diary featuring nothing but pandas, ‘cause that’s what we have today :-)
I totally missed out on my dream job...
Welcome to PWB Theme Thursdays! If you’ve never visited or commented in a PWB (Pootie/Woozle/Birdie) diary before, come on in — the water is fine, and the folks are always friendly! A few quick guidelines:
- No trolling the diary. If you hate pootie diaries, leave now. No harm, no foul.
- Please do share pics of your fur kids! If you have health/behavior issues with your pets, feel free to bring it to the community.
- When it comes to problems, we may just have someone with experience who can help. So ask!
- Whatever happens in the outer blog STAYS in the outer blog. This is a place to relax and play; please treat it accordingly.
- There is no such thing as stealing a photo around here, but if you would like a pic from the comment threads, please ask the poster. He/she may have a copyright to those pics. Many thanks!
- There are some pics we never post: snakes, creepy crawlies, any and all photos that depict or encourage human cruelty toward animals. These are considered “out of bounds” and will not be tolerated. If you keep posting banned pics...well then...the Tigress will have to take matters in hand. Or, paw.
I can’t help it — I love pandas. Well, doesn’t everybody?
In my case, though, I was pre-programmed.
My first teddybear (or at least the first one I remember) was a panda. Creatively named Theodore, he was easily half my size when I first got him, and stuffed with styrofoam pellets that squeaked when I hugged him. They also flattened out over time, as I often used Theodore as a pillow, so in his old age he’d lost rather a lot of weight :-)
I would wrap him in a blanket when I was scared, and reassure him, and somehow that instinctive bit of sympathetic magic usually worked — it was easier to be brave for Theodore than it was for myself.
Pandas definitely seem to be easy for us to project ourselves onto — their bumbling, confused antics combined with their cuteness create a comforting canvas for us to paint our own foibles on, as you’ll see in many of today’s memes.
Their seemingly universal appeal has decidedly helped conservation efforts — in 2016, their conservation status was upgraded from endangered to vulnerable — but the pressure of climate change on their natural habitat bodes badly for their long-term survival.
So reduce, reuse, recycle! Do it for the pandas!
And enjoy today’s offerings!
I know I’ve posted it before, but I love this one:
Yeah, but fun skillz? 100!!!
Ever just have one of those days??
If that wasn’t cute enough, how about a puddle of pandas?
And to finish, a full solid six minutes of baby pandas playing! Happy Thursday, everyone!
