IL-10: This is ugly.

A staffer for Rep. Mark Steven Kirk (R-Ill.), in a threatening e-mail, tried to get the president of Tel Aviv University to pressure a prominent supporter of Democrat Dan Seals to back down.
The target of a July e-mail by Kirk district representative Caryn Garber was insurance magnate Robert M. Schrayer, who is the national chairman of the Tel Aviv University American Council and on the board of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago.
Kirk said Wednesday he reprimanded Garber and warned her that she would be fired if it happened again.
Her action "does not reflect my view. When I heard about it I was upset," Kirk said.
Kirk, in his third term, is facing a stronger-than-expected challenge from Seals, who, like Kirk, is a strong backer of Israel. The north suburban 10th Congressional District has a substantial Jewish population.

Ha ha! Conservative fans of Battlestar Galactica are having a hard time dealing with this season's storyline. And to be clear, yes -- the humans are the Iraqis, and the Cylons are the Americans. Except that in real life, no battlestar will emerge from the heavens to rescue Iraqis from their nightmare.

With only a couple of weeks until Election Day, we know there will be a Democratic wave on Nov. 7. And we can be fairly certain that by historical standards it will be high - possibly very high. But we still don't know how many Republicans once considered safe will be swept out of office.
The national political environment currently is worse than it was in 1994, when the Democrats lost 52 House seats, eight Senate seats and 10 governorships, and when Republicans won GOP control of the House for the first time in decades.
You heard me right: It's worse this year than it was in 1994, when voters were dissatisfied with the first two years of the Bill Clinton presidency.

Then again, Stu said Bowers was an idiot clueless dolt for thinking Democrats should find 80 serious challengers this cycle. We found way more than that. So don't get too excited.

CT-Sen: Nicholas Confessore gets it really wrong about the fourth debate. He claims at his new NY Times gig that Lieberman wasn't invited when, in fact, Lieberman refused an invitation to attend.
