Greg Sargent has a problem with Eason Jordan going to Iraq with Michelle Malkin. I think it's a splendid idea. So long as they leave the Green Zone, and without security detail that puts a single US soldier in harm's way. I mean, things are so splendid and it's just like Philly and there's all those great new schools! They'll be perfectly safe, I'm sure.

New Kansas Rep-elect Nancy Boyda on Dean's 50-state strategy:

“Chairman Dean you got something just a little backwards. You said when Nancy Boyda decided to run this was in place. And I would say, that Nancy Boyda decided to run again because it was in place.”

TN-Sen: Lamar Alexander, who apparently contemplated retirement, is likely to run again thanks to getting plum committee assignments. Apparently, the way to get great committees is to threaten to retire and you're sure to get hooked up nicely. (And no, I see nothing wrong with that.)

Hey Tom DeLay, how did that "redistricting" thing go for you? Thanks for doing for Texas Latinos what Pete Wilson did for California Latinos -- push them solidly into the "Democratic" column.

LA-Gov: Another "botched" joke:

Call it a sign of the times for Louisiana's embattled governor: A chance to dine with Gov. Kathleen Blanco fetched a winning bid of $1 at a recent fundraising auction hosted by a group of business leaders.

The president of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, in northeastern Louisiana, said she called Blanco's office Tuesday to apologize for a "poor joke gone awry."

"It's something we deeply regret," chamber president Sue Edmunds said Wednesday. "Our organization has worked very well with the governor. We have been pleased with her efforts on behalf of this community."

Dinner with Blanco was the last item up for bid at the fundraising auction last week. Edmunds said the bidding opened at $1,000 and dropped to $500 before the auctioneer accepted a $1 bid from bank executive Malcolm Maddox, a regional chairman for Capital One.

Others were trying to bid on the dinner when the bidding abruptly closed, according to Edmunds.
