Ok, are we really going to have another DNC in Chicago with a mayor named Daley in a year that ends in 8? That didn't go over so well last time, if I remember correctly. And Dallas, well, you could not have picked a more red city to have it in outside of Utah. I know, a Texan suggesting against Texas, it is rare. That is because we should have it in New Orleans.
Where else could you more strikingly bring up the meme of Two Americas a la Edwards? Where else can you highlight what cronyism has done to America than the aftermath of Katrina? Where else can we demonstrate how the government has failed the people than holding it the very Superdome that had became the Terrordome?
I am sure New Orleans could use the economic shot in the arm that the convention will bring, and it will show that the Democrats are ready to roll up their sleeves and get work done where even angels feared to tread for a brief moment in time in 2005.
As Bush used NYC as a photo backdrop for his image of as the war president, the Democrats will have the backdrop (and some really great photoshoped photos of Bush during Katrina) to finally recapture the mantel of the ones who actually care about Americans in America. I know it's a wild concept, but it's Mardi Gras baby! And when the Big Easy calls, you gotta accept the charges.
