NEW POLL: Majority Think Bush and Cheney Have Committed Impeachable Offenses

This is going to be a fairly quick diary, since I am about to start class. New polling from American Research Group finds that 55% of voters believe that George W. Bush has abused his powers in a way that rises to the level of impeachable offenses. 52% of voters believe that the same is true of Vice President Dick Cheney.

Quick-hit analysis below the fold.

A few points of analysis:

Despite this, only a plurality of Americans are actually CALLING for impeachment. 34% believe Bush should be impeached, while 21% believe that despite the fact that his abuses rise to the level of impeachable offenses, he should not be impeached.

For Cheney, America is in a bit more of a hanging mood, with 43% of Americans calling for his impeachment.

64% believe that the President has abused his power to a real extent, while 70% believe the same of Dick Cheney. Which just shows that somewhere between 30-36% of American voters have their heads squarely up their own asses.

Unlike some previous polls, the independent voters do not tilt noticeably toward the Democrats. Indeed, on the question of impeaching the president, the Independents (34% support) lie exactly between Republicans (18% support) and Democrats (50% support).
