I was out of commission yesterday after I spilled delicious hot soup on my Macbook Pro, killing it dead. As such, I wasn't able to update these numbers quicker. Right off, the number of respondents is much higher than usual, and there's some question as to whether the poll was "hacked". Looking through the logs, we didn't find any evidence of that. Googling around, I did find quite a bit of efforts by supporters of the various campaigns to send their readers over to vote, to "freep" the poll. And there was a big traffic boost early this week thanks to the Craig and Gonzales news. So the bigger numbers can be explained by those things.
There's not much I can do to prevent freeping beyond limiting voting to just registered users (which I'd rather not do). It is an online poll, after all. So like any online poll, take with the requisite grain of salt.
