The audio recording of the "Rethinking Educational Accountability" panel at YearlyKos is now available online. This session featured a discussion with teacherken, Nebraska Education Commissioner Doug Christensen, and me. (Note for the scrupulous: We asked about union issues with recording and were told that we could not record from the mixer panel, but that we could use our own stuff, so I used an iPod with Belkin mic.)
Notes on the jump.
Those who were in the audience may note that the audio skips past my occasional smart-aleck remarks because, well, they were interruptions. (I left in Christensen's humor, which never did interrupt the flow.) I also deleted a few ums, ers, etc., as well as the logistical announcements that don't pertain to the discussion. But the core of the conversation is there, about 48 minutes. Teacherken had wanted it to be a conversation, and I'm satisfied that it was. We touched on all the topics that I thought were important in terms of the politics of school accountability, the way we talk about accountability, Nebraska's system, etc., and the audience questions/comments rounded things out nicely.
