As our own clammyc pointed out just yesterday:
The violent rhetoric has been around for a few years now, and the "Bush was called Hitler so what is wrong with this" analogy is (1) irrelevant (2) stupid (3) incorrect and (4) doesn’t consider what the Bush administration’s actions were, even if calling him Hitler wasn’t the best analogy (not that we need to debate that now). There were no progressive voices calling for his assassination. There were no talk show hosts calling for him to be lynched or hung or said that he hangs out with terrorists. There was a call for investigating him, for prosecuting him, for impeaching him, for trying him for war crimes. And while there certainly was hatred towards him and his administration, it was based on their policies and actions - if you recall, he was viewed as a potentially mediocre President (at best) before 9/11 and it was after the PATRIOT Act, the spying, the lies about Iraq and the torture that his approval ratings dropped from 90% to below 50%.
This hate speech – from Palin to McCain to Malkin to Hannity to Limbaugh to the NY Post cartoons – is not based on any policy decisions – it is based simply on hate and being in the minority and not having control anymore. It is unacceptable, inexcusable and more importantly, it is dangerous.
Today, we have Alan Keyes opining that our President is a communist, that he is a usurper who is not legitimately the President, that President Obama's goal is to destroy the country and that he must be stopped. He also opined (on the clip I saw on Countdown just a few minutes ago) that there are various persons in the military who question his status as Commander in Chief.
Foment much?
Free Republic responds:
Mr. Keyes, I’m totally in agreement with you, and so are millions of other Americans
I know your probably talking in jest, but 6 months from now when reality has sunk in, I would not want to live near any major inner city, cause I think an uncivil war is a real possibility.
Sorry, but I don’t see any way out of the mess we’re in. The Dummocrats have less than 2 years to destroy our country and its financial system, and will probably enact most of this country-destroying legislation. They’ve got two years before the electorate has any chance to dump the dummies. And quite a lot of unrecoverable things will probably be done.
HOWEVER, since this POS POTUS was elected, not by a slim margin, but by a sizable margin, and with the contemptible help of the media and ACORN, I can’t see how we can get around this goofus, the senate jacka$$es, or the morons in the house.
And, quite frankly, what mechanism is currently in place to stop these fools from taking away all our Bill of Rights as fast as they can? There’s nothing in place . . . If one thinks the Supreme Court is going to do it, we’re only one or so members away from a clean sweep of ALL COMMON SENSE IN OUR COUNTRY.
What in the hell are we (the lesser) people going to do to undo the damage being done?
I think the time will come when admitting having voted for Obama will be something like pitching holocaust denial or touting eugenics. I refused to have dinner with a distant cousin who admitted he voted for zero, and I told a friend "I may not be able to avoid Obamaniacs at work, but I don’t have to be friends or kin with them."
Until Americans start making their friends, kin, and fellow church-members feel the social pain of shunning someone who wants to kill babies and the Constitution, we won’t get them to understand what a serious mistake they have made. Shaming is a very effective tool. The left uses it all the time. It’s time for the right to start "hating the evil and loving the good." (Amos 5:15)
My first statment upon learning Obammy was going to be president was, "I can’t believe it, a communist has been elected President of the United States!"
As belts start to tighten, there will be increasing opportunities to engage those in the political middle on the local level. Those of us that are publicly able to "cope" with the coming financial and political disarray can do quite a lot to set examples for others. The MSM is vulnerable and will probably increasingly be viewed as betrayers; it is not to soon to start aggressively rolling back political correctness and all of the other poisons that the vocal left has been dripping into the public's ears (anyone can do this, speak your mind, it's fun!).
It is hard to predict what is ahead (except that it will be a mess) but be sure to take the opportunities that present themselves!
Quel Surprise !!
0bama’s father was a communist.
His step-father was a communist.
His mother was a communist "fellow traveller" who met his father when they were both studying Russian, the language that radical lefties studied in the 60’s.
His mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, was a communist who was under FBI Surveillance.
His close buddy of twenty seven years (yes, they met in 1982) Bill Ayers is a communist.
He sought out Marxist Professors in college (his words) and found them - Edward Said, former PLO spokesman, and close friend of 0bama AND Ayers from 1982.
His hero, and author of his playbook, Saul Alinsky, was a communist.
His friend and neighbor Mike Klonsky is a communist.
His friend, and current Palestinian Authority spokesman, Rashid Khalidi, is a communist.
His Preacher of 20 years preaches Black Liberation Theology, a Marxist ideology.
So what the hell else would you expect him to be???
And this:
Keep your guns close and your powder dry. We may need to refresh the tree of liberty.
What happened to appropriate political discourse?
From Molly Ivins (quoted in yesterday's Cheers & Jeers)
[P]erhaps what I object to most is the use of war as a metaphor for political differences. That way lies folly and worse. Call it a spirited discussion, a disagreement, or an all-out slinging match, but don’t call it war. That's how you get murdered abortion doctors and bombed buildings in Oklahoma.
