Rick Perry knows spectacles make you brilliant
Clown show preseason is
getting busier by the day:
Perry, a potential 2016 presidential candidate, will be in Des Moines and Davenport on Feb. 27th and 28th.
He will be sitting down with business leaders to discuss a wide range of issues, according to Bob Haus, an adviser in the state.
He also will be taping an episode of "Iowa Press," Iowa Public Television's weekly public affairs program, Haus said.
Well, here's my preseason pre-analysis: Perry is making a good move by wearing glasses, because stupid people think wearing glasses looks smart, and it's important for Perry to feel like he's smart.
Perry is also making a good move by meeting with business leaders, because Republican primary voters aren't really concerned with how policies impact the 99 percent of people who aren't "business leaders"—what they really care about is that business leaders have the freedom to be free.
But I'm not so sure about his decision to sit down with Iowa Public Television. It's not that getting press is a bad idea, or that sitting down with a (partially) government-funded entity will cause Republicans to question his dedication to freedom. It's that part of doing an interview involves answering questions, typically with complete—or at least nearly complete—sentences. And as we've learned over the years, that's really not one of Perry's strengths. So he'd better not forget those glasses.
