Happy Friday! Hope you all are dry and safe today. We should be in the middle of what should be Tropical Storm Ian at the time this posts. If we lose power, I’ll call Mort and he will let you all know how we are doing.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

So, kittens! We have two. Ivanova, who is grey, and Lyta who is black. They are both half Russian Blue half other. Ivanova looks Russian Blue, but they both have the undercoat (and Lyta’s undercoat is grey). They are adapting well. They are learning where we want them and don’t want them to be playing just yet, and we have their Kitten Koral where their food, water, one of their litter boxes, and where they sleep. There’s some toys in there as well. This lets me keep track of them when I don’t have the spoons to be chasing them around the house. It also gives them a ‘safe space’ all their own.
They’ve also started going into the koral on their own when they’re done playing and ready to rest, or just to get a drink or some food and then come out and play again. But when they go in and curl up or start playing in there, I know they are done and zip them in.
When they want to be let out they meow and push at the door. But they’re learning that sometimes they have to wait, for example if Nizz is walking somewhere. That way they don’t get underfoot, cause them to fall, or get hurt.
I’m hoping to get some better pictures later. Right now, mostly I’m trying to take them myself, and they don’t hold still LOL. I’m hoping Bit can get some better ones on her day off on Saturday.
We are introducing them to Lursa more slowly. She’s bigger and plays rougher. Right now they are still through a door greeting Lursa, though earlier this morning (Wednesday) Iva was reaching her paw under the door to bat at her, so that is promising. Lursa loves cats, I’m not worried about that, I’m just worried about her scaring them or hurting them because she doesn’t know her own strength. When we do introduce them face to face, we will put Sophie on lead or back in the bedroom, so she doesn’t get defensive of the kittens.
We only got them on Sunday and we are already seeing them come a long way in just a few days. They are *very* attached to each other, play together, sleep together. One will cry if they can’t find the other one (even if the one is just in the box in the koral, and the other is somewhere else in the koral). We are working on litter box training, though I have to wash Nizz’s slippers LOL.
If you are in IAN’s path and want to check in, this is a great place to do so!
