Mr. Brillig’s 80-something year old father was in the hospital several times earlier this month and he’s recovering from pneumonia. It had been a while since we went up to southern NH to visit, and we took advantage of the long weekend and beautiful weather to do so today. We assumed we’d be there until late afternoon then be home with plenty of time for me to pen tonight’s diary.
SURPRISE!! We were having a wonderful visit we lost track of time, and for the last several hours Mr. Brillig and his mom were adding the results of Mom’s extensive geneaology research into our DNA analysis platform, hoping to connect the genetic dots on some ancestors. Me, I can trace my family back approximately to my parents’ grandparents, but my inlaws…. dayyum. When we gave up recording because our eyes couldn’t focus on the screen anymore, we’d ONLY gotten back to the mid-1600s (there’s more that Mom has but we’ll get that next time).
And so it was that it was time to publish and Brillig did not have a diary prepared. I believe that all of you will agree time well spent with friends or relatives is more important, and I promise you our visit was time very well spent. Happy humans and an exhausted pup, because he loves his cousin pup and their fenced in yard that is at least twice as big as ours.
I hope you had a memorable Memorial Day weekend for all the right reasons, and took a moment to remember the sacrifice of all those who signed on to serve this country and never made it back home.

TOP COMMENTS
Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down. Please remember that comment inclusion in Top Comments does not constitute support or endorsement by diarist, formatter, Top Comments writers or DailyKos. Questions, complaints or comments?
