Update: I finally had time to read through some of the comments at more length and realized my rush when writing this caused possible confusion. So I want to clear it up.
I am not Jewish. I was moved by an article on Substack written by a Jewish student whose name is Jonathan Ben-Menachem. I quoted him. Then wrote my bit about Christian Nationalist end times rapture fantasies & how such impacts their support for Israel. I wrote that because I saw a Jewish person on this site quoting Mike Johnson while being against the protests. I tried telling him those people are not on your side. More people need to understand those dynamics, so I write about it sometimes. Then I posted the link to the Substack article whose headline is written in the first person and I think people confused that with me. My bad. I edited to make origin of link clear.
I wrote & posted this very quickly so apologies for confusion. And now formatting is being weird! -End update-
Apologies I have no time at moment to write in depth my thoughts on this story. But felt this needs to be witnessed here on this site.
The White House, Congressional Republicans, and cable news talking heads would have you believe that the Columbia University campus has devolved into a hotbed of antisemitic violence – but the reality on the ground is very different. As a Jewish student at Columbia, it depresses me that I have to correct the record and explain what the real risk to our safety looks like. I still can't quite believe how the events on campus over the past few days have been so cynically and hysterically misrepresented by the media and by our elected representatives.
I have to chime in and say that the reason the Republican led house is so against these protests is because of their evangelical rapture end of times bullshit. Y’all really need to understand what they’re trying to do. They are trying to create a fascist theocracy in our country. The evidence is out there you just need to read it. Project 25 is a good place to start. Also research Dominion theology. And one of their very strong beliefs to make the rapture happen is that Jews are in the holy land, which to them now means the state of Israel. I’m very disappointed in our president going along with this crap but of course I will vote for him in November because the alternative is fascism, christian theocracy fascism.
