Can someone please explain something to me?
I like President Obama. I voted for him twice, and thought he was a pretty decent president. The fact remains that as Commander in Chief during the years 2009-2016, the US military was in near-constant action against Muslim countries: Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, Somalia Libya & Pakistan.
A few minutes of Googling to tally the total number of civilians killed gets one to a number of over 30,000 civilians. None of the military actions under Obama’s rule can be plausibly argued to be in defense of the American Homeland. Instead, Obama was acting his part in the “Great Game” of international geo-politics, and 30,000 Muslim civilians was apparently the price to be paid.
In the last 6 months - responding to a direct attack on it’s citizens - Benjamin Netanyahu’s government took military action against Hamas that resulted in the deaths to date of about 20,000 civilians. (Of the 35,000 killed in Gaza to date, about 15,000 are confirmed Hamas combatants)
So in defense of his citizens, Netanyahu’s civilian death toll is far lower than Obama’s - whose citizens were under absolutely no direct threat.
Netanyahu – and Israel - is routinely accused of perpetrating genocide; Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
What am I missing?
