This was such a masterful set up across the three debates. Here is how I see it:
Debate 1: Hit Bush hard, be Presidential
Debate 2: Hit, be Presidential
Debate 3: BE PRESIDENTIAL
Bush has been playing catch up ever since the 1st debate. He has not been able to come up with a coherent plan for his next four years.
Kerry really impressed me with his last performance. He was articulate (not verbose), clear, and smooth. He actually elevated my impression of him, even though it was sky high already.
Bush has been forced to respond to issues raised by Kerry. Worst yet, Bush ran out of things to say.
This is why Kerry is a great finisher. He focuses on the war and not on the battles. He thinks deep and develops a long-range plan.
Folks, apply the after taste test. People sitting on the fence will. And dare I say, even some Republicans will. Given the bad taste in your mouth and the hope for a new start, guess who'll get the benefit of the doubt.
"Bush is likable": If this was ever true, it no longer is. You are either with him or against him. This may have worked with people when it was lobbed against other countries, but not against your own people.
Go to it. The people are yearning for a likable President. Get Out the Vote.
