Yesterday, in an item on Rush Limbaugh's disgusting comments about Sandra Fluke, Kaili Joy Gray made fun of his use of Viagra, constantly referring to him as "limp dick." Haha.
On Feb. 14, in a post on the hypocrisy of Catholic bishops supporting male ED meds, while opposing contraceptives, she made similar comments and referred to "old men who can't get it up and apparently can't figure out how to please their partners in a non-insert-penis-somewhere way." Haha some more.
I am 61 and have ED (along with prostate and bladder problems) and I use Cialis. Fortunately, I get it partially subsidized by my insurance, for which I won't apologize.
Just because I'm an old white guy, does not mean that I'm part of the War on Women. Not in any way. It does not make me your (or anyone else's) oppressor. And just because I have a "limp dick," as you so lovingly put it, does not mean that I (and my wife) can't enjoy sex. Nor that I don't have any idea how to please a partner besides intercourse.
Think about what you're saying, Kaili, in these nasty digs. In many ways, you're no better than the wingnuts: "I want my needs met and I don't give a shit about supporting or even understanding your needs."
Frankly, I'm surprised that Kos allows this kind of insult to continue. It's not a positive reflection on Daily Kos and it's no way to build a progressive movement. I continue, however, to read many of Kaili's posts, because she DOES have valuable things to contribute. And there is a place for snark in this community---though many times it is way out of bounds. I also don't mean to criticize the 'muscular' form of progressivism that is one of Kos's hallmarks, but that's not the same as throwing around insults that are besides the point and denigrating to people who have nothing to do with Limbaugh.
I thought that Kaili and the Kos community are better than this. At least I can hope.
