It is hilarious to see these naive nitwits on teevee pipedreaming that the Republicans are going to be seized with a spirit of compromise and "seek common ground" with Obama once they take office in January.
WRONG, morons. Haven't you been paying any attention at all to the ALEC game plan the GOP has followed without variation in the state legislatures they have taken over?
THE FIRST THING THEY DO is eliminate all procedural and administrative brakes or inhibitors on the legislative process -- committee introducion procedures, quorums, etc etc. Once they get their hands on the sledgehammer they intend to use it. They are not interested in discussion, delays or deliberation; they are going to ram their program through.
THEREFORE, ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE NEW CONGRESS, the first order of business in the Senate will be to unconditionally and completely abolish the filibuster. Period, full stop.
They will unconditionally abolish the filibuster so their complete ALEC-dictated legislative agenda can be rammed through part and parcel, and then dumped on Obama's desk in an explicit dare for him to veto it.
The GOP wants to flip the narrative; after 6 years of being the most obstructionist do-nothing Congress ever, they are going to shift the ALEC legislative sausage machine into Warp 9 overdrive and ram through bills by the hundreds per week.
VIRTUALLY EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE BILLS will be loaded down to the gills with the most preposterous poison pills imaginable: complete demolition of Obamacare, illegalization of abortion, abolition of the EPA, immediate privatization of Social Security and Medicare, elimination of the minimum wage, abolition of all labor unions, establishment of huge "Job Creator" tax rebates, elimination of all welfare and unemployment programs, immediate deportation of all 'illegals,' forced privatization of the national parks system, elimination of public education, reinstitution of Jim Crow laws, etc etc etc., in order to virtually FORCE Obama to veto every single of them. They will be written in such a way Obama will be utterly forced to veto them all.
Because then they can recast the narrative: they'll label themselves the "Can-Do Congress" ramming through hundreds of pieces of legislation per week, while Obama will be painted as the "Uppitty Obstructionist:" the dark-faced door-slammer piling up vetoes by the thousands with all his niggardly niggling objections.
The sheer number of Obama's vetoes will be used as a reason for his impeachment in the dog-and-pony-show hearings which will begin in about June.
And the GOP's full-throated suckling brigade in the mainstream media will go along with it. And it will carry through until 2016 -- and probably longer.
