An MSNBC.com news service story from Kabul, Afghanistan reported that a NATO official said that 13 people were killed when a suicide bomber rammed a military convoy in the Afghanistan capitol of Kabul. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. NATO initially reported that all 13 killed were service members. Later on it confirmed that 8 were civilians working for the coalition and 5 were soldiers.
The Afghan Ministry of Interior said 3 Afghan civilians and 1 policeman also died in the attack. There were 8 other Afghans, including 2 children and 4 other civilians, wounded, said Kabir Amiri, head of Kabul hospitals.
NATO, after a full decade of war, can't even correctly report a death toll in a suicide bombing. The MSNBC web site's headline is "NATO: 13 killed in Kabul attack". There were 18 people that died in a suicide attack, 17 victims and 1 suicide bomber.
NATO's reports consider Afghanistan people to be Non-People when they die in a suicide attack, and the suicide bomber is always considered a Non-Person. The Afghanistan Ministry of Interior corrected the record to add the 4 Afghanistan deaths.
The second decade of the Afghanistan War has become an Orwellian Nightmare of doublespeak.
