I went to Red State.org to see how the GOP reacted their near death experience in Ohio 2.
One poster EricK was snarking (inaccurately) that none of the candidates DailyKos has backed has won an election. (I seem to recall a Salazar among the Kos 13) He also basically rationalized away the close election as the result of Schmidt not getting the backing of the Club For Growth and having a war veteran go up against an exceptionally weak candidate. The guy at least had the honesty to label this as "spin"
Another poster, however, was not so smug about the election, calling it a "Wake up call" for the G.O.P. Interestingly, however, his prescription for victory was getting a candidate who followed the Club for Growth line of fiscal conservatism.
Basically they're either smug or scared and their solution to the 50 state strategy is drinking more Grover Norquist kool aid. I can't wait for the 2006 Congressional election. We're going to kick some serious butt.
