Clinton or Sanders -- Your Choice Doesn't Matter
Vote for who you want, because we’re gonna win either way.
We all have our preferences. I have a Bernie preference — that’s all — just a preference. I’ll go down to the caucus on the 26th, with my voting-age kids in tow, B-B-G in gender, 27-25-20 in age, and Hillary!-Bernie?-Bernie! in preference. I’ve got no problem with that. We agreed awhile ago we’d come to our own decisions, and there would be no smack-talk about them. We’ll go down to the caucus, make our pitch and our vote, and then we’ll go have lunch. Simple as that.
It Doesn’t Matter Because of Trump
Donald Trump is either going to win the nomination outright or he will have a plurality of the delegates at the convention. The odds are overwhelming that one of these two scenarios come to pass:
If Trump Wins the nomination outright,
Clinton wins.
Sanders wins.
If Trump Wins the nomination via a plurality,
Clinton wins.
Sanders wins.
If Trump has a plurality, but is not the nominee,
Clinton wins.
Sanders wins.
Now, some of you might point out that the last scenario, if Cruz is the nominee, current polls show him as beating Clinton. Fair enough. But I hereby conjure a Trump Effect where there will be enough Trump supporters who will either stay home or write Donald in to erase that margin. And there won’t be a need for any great number of them to affect the election. If Trump wins a plurality, and the Convention nominate someone, anyone else, that will be taken as a giant fuck-you to an enormous portion of the Republican electorate. Remember, Trump’s election slogan is: Vote Trump, Because Fuck Them Other Guys.
Donald Trump IS the Republican Voters’ None-of-the-Above Choice.
No more. No less.
