Central New York Oil & Gas stores is a wholly owned subsidiary of Inergy, an energy company currently involved in expanding their pipeline capacity in the Marcellus Shale play so they can move more fracked methane to market. CNYO&G stores natural gas for, among other companies, ConEd and KeySpan.
Recently, the federal Pipeline Safety and Hazardous Materials Administration cited CNYO&G for a handful of pipeline safety violations.
CNYO&G says there's nothing to be worried about, but with America's natural gas infrastructure crumbling, there are serious questions about whether or not the decaying system can handle the current load, let alone the increased burden coming out of the nation's fracking fields.
