The 2016 primary is moving along quickly and it is easy to get caught up in the momentum and to forget about a state once the winner is announced and the delegates have been awarded.
As a life-long New Yorker I have been dismayed at the epic problems, many self-imposed, that occurred during the New York State Primary on April 19. This diary is not intended to speak to who won or lost, it is intended to share information about another giant disaster like Arizona.
Even in a heated primary, all Democrats need to stay focused on these issues because Republicans never will. The more these state and county election boards screw up and are not held accountable the more voters will stop exercising their right to vote and the more uncertain we will all be that elections are fair and accurate….sadly, it seems as if we are already there and have been for a long time.
As a democrat I am sick to death of hearing about disenfranchisement, irregularities, purges, mailers giving voters the wrong primary dates, ballots without all candidates listed, provisional ballots that go uncounted and on and on and on.
Even though there are massive irregularities in New York, particularly in Brooklyn, the BOE is scheduled to certify the vote in New York State today and basically say “to hell with the voters.”
For anyone interested in getting a better understanding of the absolute debacle that was the New York State Primary, particularly in Brooklyn, I’ve included a video link.
