The past five days have proven a few things:
- Trump is either insane or crazy like a fox. Either way, he’s a danger to our republic.
- A large number of people are ready to resist.
- The horrors are coming at us fast and furious.
- We need to be smart, agile and focused if we want to survive, let alone win.
- We can’t count on the Democrats in Congress.
- We can’t count on the “free press" to do it’s job.
- We’ve been handed a weapon if we can organize to use it.
I have been on an emotional roller coaster watching all this unfold — going back and forth from depression to anger to elation (over the protest) and the depression again. And now frustration has set in. We have the facts on our side, we have millions of people on our side and “right” is on our side. But it seems impossible to fight each affront that comes our way, and perhaps we don’t need to. Perhaps we should switch to a single, simple strategy.
Trump, backed by his White House (and several Republicans) have stated that some 3 to 5 million people voted illegally in the 2016 election. This is crazy in and of itself. But it’s even crazier to believe that illegal voting on this scale could produce a legitimate election result. Trump and his minions want us to believe (without any facts) that the popular vote count is a fraud, but the electoral college result is perfectly sound. For this to be true, Donald Trump must know the following:
- Who these illegal voters are.
- The states they voted in.
- How they voted.
Without these specifics, the “illegal voting” door swings both ways. Since Donald Trump won the electoral college by so few votes, if 3 to 5 million people voted illegally, he could have easily been the beneficiary of illegal votes just as much as any one else on the ballot.
If you’re going to question the validity of an election on the scale of 3 to 5 million voters you can’t be selective. Either the entire election is a fraud or the entire election is valid — it can’t be a fraud for Hillary Clinton, but perfectly legitimate for Donald Trump.
This adds up to four possibilities (two of which are actually impossible):
- Trump is insane and is unfit to serve.
- Trump is acting with deceit to our undermine our democracy and is therefore unfit to serve.
- Trump knows who the illegal voters are, the states they voted in, how they voted and is hiding this information from the American people because he knows he did not win the electoral college. This would make his election illegitimate.
- Trump knows who the illegal voters are, the states they voted in, how they voted and is hiding this information from the American people because he doesn’t want to prove that Hillary Clinton lost the popular vote.
Since the last two options are impossible, we’re left with insanity and/or lying (note: these aren’t really mutually exclusive). Either way it all adds up to unfit to serve.
Every elected official in Congress and the Senate (national, state and local) should be contacted with these questions:
“INSANE OR UNFIT? WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE?”
- Did 3 to 5 million people vote illegally in the 2016 election?
- With all those illegal votes, how can the American people know who won?
- How many of these illegal votes did you receive?
- Do you believe that you were legally elected?
- If there is evidence of widespread voter fraud why are the facts being withheld from the American public? What are you trying to hide?
- Isn’t it an equal threat to our republic to cover up an illegitimate election or to deceive the American public into believing that an election was illegitimate? Isn’t such an act an impeachable offense?
We should also contact our local election officials to inquire:
- How many illegal voters did you register in advance of the 2016 elections?
- Did you knowingly violate your oath of office by certifying fraudulent results?
In a world of so many lies, it’s hard to find the big one — but I think this is it. This lie will be used to deprive people of their right to vote. It’s no time for defense — we need a good offense. Either Trump is insane to believe something like this with no basis in fact (and he’s not fit to serve) or he is lying to the American people, deliberately undermining our democracy, and putting our nation at risk (and he is not fit to serve). Congress has a constitutional duty to act.
BTW, someone named Gregg Phillips is claiming he has the data to prove that 3 million votes were cast by non-citizens. Congress should get right on this….. make them do it! www.rawstory.com/...
