Help Pakistan! is a group dedicated to getting needed humanitarian support to flood ravaged Pakistan, and disseminating information pertaining to the floods to the dailykos community at large. Our goal is getting donations to those people who need it most.

If you have a negative comment pertaining to Pakistan, its people, its culture, or its relationship with the United States, please refrain from making it here. If you would like to be a part of our group, please click the picture at the very bottom of this diary. We would love more volunteers to help us with the burden of getting a diary up every day. If you were reading Dailykos last Friday you may have read my diary on the subject of the Pakistani floods, Pakistan Floods - reporting/working from the inside. It was the first time I ever told Kossaks in a diary or comment that my husband is Pakistani.

During the past 9 years there are varying degrees about how that news is met. Sadly in a too large percentage of time it is met with suspicion, and I am treated as if I'm a naive dupe. So this white woman, born and raised in Denver, CO, just tells people her husband is of another race, and leaves it at that. But I've always wanted you to know him, and the people of Pakistan.

He grew up in the Rawalpindi/Islamabad area of Pakistan. His brother and family are mostly still there (although some live in California). They have been busy for the last few weeks, my brother-in-law, sister-in-law, niece, nephew and extended family doing flood relief work. They are Rotarians. The diary linked above told of the work they were doing and the message my BIL sent us.

The Indus Magic: Flowing right from Lake Mansarovar (Tibetan plateau) , the Indus river runs a course through Ladakh district of Jammu and Kashmir and Northern Areas(Gilgit-Baltistan), flowing through the North in a southerly direction along the entire length of the country, to merge into the Arabian Sea near Pakistan's port city Karachi. For the past few days/weeks a dedicated bunch of kossaks have been directing your attention to one of the worst Climate Change disasters the world has yet faced, the flooding in Pakistan.

To them and to those who have donated and continue to scrap together dollars I give a heartfelt thanks.

There are others who have troubled me greatly. Laughing Planet highlighted some of their comments a diary on Thursday. Comments like:

if the Taliban can show for one second that they're interested in more than just blowing people up, then I will scrape up $20 for the relief fund.

Allah helps those who help themselves.
